Saphirdufeu's Royal Congrats - Round 4
Round 1: http://www.behindthename.com/bb/game/4944377
Round 2: http://www.behindthename.com/bb/game/4944585
Round 3: http://www.behindthename.com/bb/game/4945598Round 4 - we’re almost halfway! Another 5 years have passed, so the year is 1188 - age everyone up.
Dice: http://www.brockjones.com/dieroller/dice.htmRelationshipsFirst, roll d4 for any relationships - if you roll a 1, the couple is no longer together, due to death or divorce. Roll d10 for everyone over the age of 55, or under the age of 10 - a roll of 8-10 means that that person has unfortunately passed away. Now, roll d10 for everyone over the age of 14 who is single.
If they are aged 15 to 18, a roll from 7-10 is an engagement (but not one which can produce children.)
If they are aged 19 to 25, a roll from 5-6 is an engagement, and 7-10 is a marriage.
If they are aged 26+, a roll from 3-5 is an engagement, and 6-10 is a marriage.
Engagements may become marriages in the next round.
Naturally, a member of the royal family cannot marry a commoner - and so, roll d6 for the title of the noble any royals marry:
1: Baron/Baroness
2: Viscount/Viscountess
3: Count/Countess
4: Duke/Duchess
5: Prince/Princess (of another country)
6: King/Queen (of another country)
Women who marry will take the title of their spouse - men will take the title of their spouse if it is higher than theirs. ChildrenNext up, children! Any children born this round should be under 5 years old, and will take the title of their parents (unless their parents are King & Queen, in which case they are Prince/Princess). Roll d20.
For a potential mother aged 18-23: 1-10 is no children, 11-15 is 1 child, 16-20 is 2 children
For a potential mother aged 24-34: 1-5 is no children, 6-8 is 1 child, 9-14 is 2 children, 15-20 is 3 children
For a potential mother aged 35-45: 1-10 is no children, 11-15 is 1 child, 16-20 is 2 childrenEvents (optional)Roll d10:
1-6: no event
7-8: The Great Rising
The people aren’t happy. Not in the slightest. And so, they revolt. They march on the capital, claiming that they are on the King’s side but that they want change. Roll d10 - if you roll a 9 or a 10, the current King is unfortunately killed in the subsequent carnage, and his heir takes the throne. The Queen, if she is still in the picture, becomes the Dowager Queen, and the heir’s spouse, if they have one, takes her place.
9-10: Te Deum Laudamus
The Pope would really appreciate it if you began to take care of those heretics hanging about in England. It’ll win you a lot of favour with the Church, and the Catholic fanatics in the country - although maybe not so much with the friends and family of those you’re taking care of.NamesNames this round are determined by your favourite colour! DW [40] Queen Lucy Beatrice of England, House of FairchildDS [22] Prince Edmund Frederick of England
DS [dec] Prince James Constantine of England***Rumour has it that King George is growing ill. Who would have thought getting drunk in the middle of the day and womanising would have a negative effect on one's health? Even though the king was always thought of as a wise and just ruler, the country is festering with heretics. Their proliferation is to such an extent that the pope has asked the king to intervene. However, the monarch proclaims to have more pressing matters at hand (the aforementioned getting drunk in the middle of the day).Luckily, Queen Lucy has taken on the burden of riding England's streets of grime. While decreasing funding for the military and increasing it for the church was an unpopular decision, the Archbishop of Canterbury is very thankful for the lovely painting of the Virgin Mary in his parlour, and the numbers of heretics are plummeting. While the king is ailing in health, his spouse has essentially been running the country, and doing rather well. She is well-loved by the people, but can't help but feel she's made one huge mistake - her son has remained a bachelor despite his mature age of 22. Her majesty is trying hard to find a suitable wife for her son, but she's aware that she's running out of time.Edmund doesn't seem to mind one bit.

He used to work in the stables as a boy until he fell and mangled his leg. No one wanted anything to do with him after that. No one married him. No one employed him. Until he met Margaret. She offered to cook for him as ling as he allowed her to partake of the foods from his small crop. He agreed and the couple soon chose to live their life together as a married couple. Theobald treated Margaret with such care and love that she never received from Simon and he kept her daughter from death's door when she fell ill. Simon and Joan still have no children. No one knows that they made a pact with each other. Simon could have his men and Joan could have whoever she wanted as well. Princess Alice has seen men and women alike come in and out of Joan's room, including at times her older sister. At least she did before Katherine met the dashing Prince Anselm of Germany. Anselm had come on a diplomatic visit to her father's palace when a large group decided to go hunting. Kathering being the adventurous woman she is elected to go along, hunting one of her favorite pastimes. She ended up riding next to Anselm the whole day and spending the whole evening with him too, late into the night. After Anselm returned home, they wrote to each other on a regular basis. One of Katherine's letters included her suspicions that she might be expecting. The moment he read that, Anselm returned to King Simon's home and asked for Katherine's hand. Simon eagerly agreed. His daughter needed a husband and needed to get out.

Times went from bad to worse for Arthur and Nina as the people marched on the capital claiming that they are on the King’s side but that they wanted change. There were rumours in the ranks that Nina was unable to produce a healthy heir despite Cressida flourishing, there were calls for Arthur to remarry, there were calls for Nina and Cressida to be cast out, some even wanted their heads. Arthur's most trusted advisor suggested listening to the people and taking a new wife who could provide a healthy son. Arthur fired him and executed anyone who spoke out against the Queen and his precious Princess. This silenced the crowds... For now...In less than 15 months Nina and Arthur have bore two more children, luckily one was a boy, named after his father who becomes the new heir to the throne. The people are settled by Arthur Jr's birth and rejoice with their monarchy. Unfortunately one who is not rejoicing is King Louis of France who calls off any further betrothal between his offspring and Arthur's on account of "unreliable bloodline". The Duke was actually her first prospect for a husband, as they grew up under two neighbouring families of importance and saw much of each other growing up; however, her and her family’s constant expression of loyalty to the late father of the newly deceased king and the young Olive’s mixture of liveliness and modesty caught the eye of the former King and Queen, and so the Duke remained unmarried. The Duke Rennes’s consistent engagement in the Holy Wars left him long unengaged, so with this new peace period he has found a new task at hand: marrying his childhood friend and becoming the King needed.

Looking ForwardWhile the children were fostered with Edith's family in Northumbria, King Philip I and Queen Edith did much to repair their marriage. However, within the year tragedy struck: King Melchior of Northumbria died at the age of 78, and Edith's brother Reginald was crowned. With him relocating to the capital with his wife, Queen Catherine, the situation with the princes and princesses changed. It was determined that, while Queen Mother Rohesia appreciated the company of the elder daughters in her grief, the younger children were a little much for the court to handle, and Prince Geoffrey should return to the land he would eventually rule. So Nell and Maud stayed in Northumbria, while Geoff, Percy, and Maria returned home. While Philip and Edith were more or less back to their old selves, no new children joined the family. It was the next generation that they had to worry about. There were still Mercian holdouts that wished for independence. Guy of Bath gently reminded Philip that he'd told him this would happen, and Philip didn't take the reminder well. Rather surprisingly, it was Edith - the woman Philip chose instead of the Mercian (or Margaret of Bath, Comtesse Aubert) who smoothed things over between them. It was determined that it would be advantageous to ally Geoff to young Lady Aline... daughter of Gilbert Rennes, Earl Lichfield, and his wife Countess Juliana - née Courteney. The woman King Philip nearly married.Since the death of his grandfather and the coronation of his uncle, Geoff had sobered considerably. Dragons no longer concern him. He received the news with a kind of quiet certainty atypical for his age. While Philip was gladdened at the maturity of his heir, he didn't want Geoff to forget that some dragons were real. He feared he might have forgotten that lesson himself.

Princess Beatrice is still unwed, and her father and stepmother fear she will be a spinster at this point, given that she is already 23 years of age. Beatrice, who fears nothing (especially being without a husband) sweetly reminded the queen that she herself was twenty-two when she was wed, so they should be unconcerned. This didn’t go over very well, and the King and Queen have redoubled their efforts, sending Beatrice’s picture to a few more nobles. Events: no event

They had just christened their first child, a little boy, when they received the news of his father's death. Not a week later, Edmund was crowned King, one of the youngest men to succeed to the throne in his kingdom's history.Queen Philippa adores her husband King Hugo, and the countrymen of Genoa love their queen dearly. War.Someone, possibly one of Hal's childhood tutors, once said that war is unchanging. People fight over different things, with different weapons and different strategies, but at the bottom of it, war, war never changes. It doesn't matter if it was fought between mortal enemies or former brothers-in-arms, if it was over opposing fundamental beliefs or because some noble gave you a bagful of coins to go hurl stones at the neighbour's castle. In the end, all war ever accomplished was death. And death, thought Hal, doesn't discriminate. The people claimed they wanted change, and he knew they did need it. The harvest had failed two years in a row, and then a quarter of the capital was devoured by flames. The phrase "lean times" had been coined for exactly this sort of situation. The people were hungry, cold, diseased, and desperate. And his father had expected they would revolt--was practically waiting for it to happen. Then, when it did happen, he'd rode out to make a speech, calm the masses.Nobody knew who started the riot. But everybody knew that when the dust settled and the blood dried on the flagstones, King Richard was dead. The coronation was done that very night. No sense letting the swaying wave of uncertainty sweep any further; no sense in leaving a nation decapitated. His father's crown sat loosely on his gaunt forehead, permanently one nudge away from slipping over his eyes. His mother, head covered with a black veil, maintained resolute conversation with Matilda even as her voice shook. Rufus, eyes red-rimmed and darting across the room anxiously, stood at his side with one hand always at the hilt of his sword. They plan for the future in hushed tones. A wedding date hastened. A funeral prepared. A nation abruptly left in the lap of its unprepared steward.

DW [45]: Queen Adeliza Mary Alice of England (née Bohun) -DS1 [19]: Prince Arthur Melchior Philip of England
--DW [18]: Princess Suzanne Isabelle Marie of England (née of France)-DD1 [17]: Princess Constancia Margaret Anne of England
--Fiancé [19]: Prince Henri Thibaut Rainier of Navarre -DS2 [13]: Prince Joachim Constantine Nicolas of England
-DD2 [dec, 5]: Princess Leonor Isabella Maud of England
-DS3 [8]: Prince Henry Adam Elias of England 'Hal'
-DS4 [7]: Prince Tobias John Harold of England 'Toby'Arthur is a serious, intellectual young man, a hard-worker and a determined soul. He played an important part in negotiating his own marriage to Suzanne, the second child and first daughter of the King of France. Although she can't inherit the throne, it gives him a strong claim if anything should happen to her father and brothers. Suzanne is a quiet, gentle girl, and gets on well with her new mother-in-law. She is a very talented seamstress, and will no doubt make a suitable Queen of England one day.Constancia, still vivacious and mischievous, has been betrothed to Prince Henri of Navarre, next in line to the throne. She loves England and her father's court dearly, but she understands that worse futures could be ahead of her than becoming Queen of Navarre. The couple have not been married yet, and have only met in person once. Henri is loud, commanding, and energetic, always moving from place to place, and seems to be a good match for the enthusiastic Constancia.Joachim has proven himself to be a talented athlete, excelling in all areas necessary to become a good military leader. Philip thinks he could be a good second-in-command to his older brother, whom he often teases for his studious nature, but also looks up to. He's encouraged Hal and Toby, still very close, to take up sports as well, and Toby, in particular, has shown an enthusiasm for athletics. Hal, unfortunately, has not yet shown a talent for anything in particular, although he is a charming and sweet young boy.The peace in the country continues, and Philip has begun to invest in architecture and affirmation of his right to rule England. Adeliza, meanwhile, has taken to managing her children's affairs as closely as possible, and she is determined to make the best possible futures for all of them.
