Gemma sadly passed away three years ago after a short battle with breast cancer. Samuel and the kids were crushed. For the longest time Samuel was resisting any efforts of his family and friends who urged him to move on and find someone else, until that day when his very best friend arranged a blind date for him. That's how he met Kelly, a widow herself, the two just clicked on the first date and eighteen months later got engaged. Kelly has two kids aged ten and eight from her first marriage and the two are keeping the house busy while Sam's older children are gradually moving out and starting families of their own.
Oscar being the oldest one was the first one to move out. He married his high school sweetheart Adrianna the moment she turned nineteen and the two of them rented a double bedroom apartment just five minutes away from Sam's house. The close distance is a very good thing as they also made Sam a grandfather days ago, welcoming a daughter Neva Charlotte.
Oliver has moved away just two years ago. He is currently studying literature at Berkeley. That's where he met his girlfriend Iris a freshman at the same university.
Isadora is still living at home. She decided against going to college and makes her living as a blogger. Her boyfriend of two years Calvin makes his living in the same way.
