Valery and Kristina are married. It's a large affair, with guest from around the world attending.

When a major politician, Yevgeni Andreev, a member of the parliament, is assassinated, security tightens around the royal family, requiring them to have multiple guards with them whenever they leave the castle. Valery and Kristina hope this will eventually blow over, and are glad the children are too young to remember.

Kolya somehow contracts a severe case of pneumonia, and ends up spending just over a week in the hospital recovering. Valery and Kristina were incredibly worried about him, but extremely thankful and relieved that he pulled through.

Kristina again gives birth to identical twin girls. Kolya's a bit put out over being outnumbered by his sisters four to one, but grows to love Natalya and Anastasya, who both have straight brown hair and their mother's hazel eyes.

When Liliya and Alyona begin attending school, Valery and Kristina quickly notice that they and their nanny are being followed to and from the school by the paparazzi and become very angry. Valery issues a formal statement telling the media to stay away from his children, to stop stalking them, and that he and Kristina will share photos of the children themselves.
