Meet Sigrun Ellinor Murphy, a two year old girl from Iceland. Sigrun recently lost her parents to a tragic boating accident and her aging relatives decided they didn’t have the means to support her. She doesn’t quite understand her parents’ deaths and hasn’t yet stopped asking for them, but we are sure she will eventually get used to her new life and she will thrive in a loving household like yours. So far we have seen her demonstrate extreme curiosity in most things and she is always asking questions and trying to explore new areas. We are positive she will enjoy traveling with your family and learning from parents who are also passionate teachers.
Your two other new children are brothers from Colombia: Alonso Josué and Ignacio León Murphy! The brothers were recently placed in our care after their aunt, who has raised them for the past year, was seriously injured in an episode of gun violence. She felt it was no longer safe for the young boys to live in the area and decided they would have the best chances with a new family. For their part, both boys are adjusting to having new lives and are looking forward to their first plane ride and their first time meeting you. Alonso (5) has minor anxiety due to being near his aunt when she was injured but he has been taking medicine and attending therapy to help him get past these feelings. He’s very protective of Ignacio and has demonstrated great care for the younger children in our nursery so we think he will adjust well to being a big brother to Octavia and Sigrun as well as Ignacio. In his free time, Alonso enjoys basic athletics and sitting alone “imagining”. Since he speaks limited English, Mac’s proficiency in his native Spanish will be helpful for Alonso’s adjustment. Ignacio (2) is developing at a normal level for boys his age and we have seen him demonstrate very strong social skills. He is constantly babbling about something or another and he loves to smile at everyone he sees. Because growing up the boys had little financial means, they have yet to do any major traveling but they tell us they would love to visit other places and we think their personalities are well suited to traveling lifestyles. We are confident that the brothers will fit right in with your family and we know that they’ll make you fall in love with them immediately.
Please keep us informed during the children’s transition into your household. We would love to hear from you.
