Both of them have found love elsewhere - Else in a contributor to their podcast, Lockie, and Ronan in a nature photographer called Bethany. Ronan still visits the kids regularly, though, and Bethany is a lovely woman, who the kids all love. Lockie and Else struck a chord almost immediately when they met: he was kind, intelligent, and sensitive, and they fell in love pretty quickly. He adores Ida, Darcy and Eloise, and when he tentatively suggests that perhaps he and Else could have a child of their own, both mother and daughters are delighted with the idea. After a year of trying, with help from fertility treatments, they finally conceive - and are shocked to discover that Else is carrying triplets! The pregnancy is pretty rough, but she has support from her sisters, parents, boyfriend, Ronan and Bethany, and she pulls through all right. Harriet, Hero and Horatio hyphenate Else and Lockie's surnames, and all 3 girls are delighted to have little babies to take care of (Darcy in particular just won't leave them alone!) The girls have taken well to Lockie, and he's a pretty devoted father to all of them. Lockie becomes a regular contributor to Else and Ronan's podcast, and she couldn't be happier with the way her life is.Annie and Jasper have settled down well into married life - and parenthood too, because they've had six kids in the time they've been together. Annie's now had 3 sets of twins, which becomes something of a running joke in the family - when will the Montagues have some more twins coming along, then? However, the stress gets to her. She finds she ahs to quit her job to care for their kids, and this leaves a great financial strain on the family of 10. Arthur and Tom, although they like Jasper, are annoyed and feel sidelined now that they have 6 younger siblings. They're growing up, and want their own space, and a share of their parents' attention - getting someone to parent's evening or a football match or a school show is a struggle. Hanna and Gilbert often come along to the boys' events instead or take the kids for a night. Mattie and René have tied the knot! Mattie swears it was the happiest day of her life (along with Luna's birth, of course) but her sisters tease that that was probably the day she won her school talent show, aged 9. Morgane has settled down well, and speaks excellent English now, and she teaches Luna French as well. The two are still best friends, which Mattie and René are delighted about. They really didn't plan on having any kids together, but they were less than careful on their wedding night, and so 9 months into married life welcome little Mercury. However, although Mattie loves her youngest daughter very much, she's also quite upset. She'd been thinking of auditioning for a musical at the theatre where she works, but with a baby to take care of, she's not sure it's possible. She talks things over, night after night, with René, and with parents and sisters, but she can't come to a conclusion, and the deadline for auditions is drawing ever nearer...
