The king is dead, long live the king (or queen, or what have you.) The last sovereign of the kingdom has passed, bringing the former heir to the crown. What events brought this about? How does our royal family and their growing family think about it? Yes, growing - some months after the coronation our couple announces a new addition is on its way. Perhaps its new life had even begun before the old ruler's had ended, though this little one will know no life but that of a child of the reigning monarch.

Ilyas was born on the day his grandfather died - he was named Petras in his honour - and so his parents will always associate him with that event. However, his birth - and Petras' death - has brought them closer together; they've now realised they don't have to be in love to be successful monarchs. Their job is to take care of the country and its future, and if that means having to be married and having children, then so be it.

King Grádaigh became suddenly ill a few days after Aislin's second birthday, and stayed ill for weeks before finally succumbing to his illness. Danny's mother, Moira, became distraught, only acting somewhat normal in Aislin's presence, not wanting her only granddaughter to see her acting so strangely. With the difficulty of Aislin's pregnancy, he was worried that he might lose his father and his wife in the space of a few months. That's when Moira seemed to snap out of it. She could be seen playing games with Aislin and giving pregnancy advice to Tera, as well as legislative advice to Danny. Thankfully Niamh's pregnancy and subsequent delivery went much smoother than Aislin's had. And speaking of Aislin, she seems to have taken the role of big sister very seriously, and is always asking Tera, Moira, or the lady-in-waiting who is currently caring for her and Niamh what she can do to help them.

The heartbreak of her father's death was eased a little by the birth of their first daughter, Crown Princess Artemisia. Her first name was chosen by the late King when he heard of his daughter's pregnancy, although he never lived to meet his granddaughter. The name Floriana is after Zenobia's mother, the Dowager Queen Florienne, who has been instrumental in helping her daughter and son-in-law in this difficult time.
As the first child born during her mother's reign, Artemisia stands to inherit the throne and has the title of Crown Princess. Zenobia and Mathias tried to make no more of a fuss of her birth than they did when Prince Stephanos was born, but the people are overjoyed at the birth of a future monarch.

There’s been a tragedy in the Kingdom of Castovia, as King Alex I has kicked the bucket. He’d had a major heart attack and was rushed to the hospital only to be pronounced dead on arrival. The funeral was held in a private chapel so that only family could attend, and to minimize anyone crashing the ceremony. But with this tragedy came a joyous celebration—not only have Prince Alex and Princess Emma become the new King and Queen of Castovia, but Emma has given birth once again!
The newborn prince’s name is Felix Christian George Morgan; George, of course, honors his late grandfather. Prince James, whom King Alex II is now exposing to the public, is over the moon with his baby brother and can’t wait to start playing with him. The populace of Castovia is equally as delighted, and Emma’s best friend even knitted the new prince a baby blanket with his monogram on it.

Ned's father George passed away about a year ago, aged 62, after a long period of illness during which Ned began to take on a lot of his father's duties. Ned was crowned King Edward on the 7th of June, 1880, and Cyril became the heir apparent and was created Prince of Wales. A little over three months later, Queen Héloïse gives birth to a healthy baby boy, Prince Elias. The birth of his son helps Ned to recover from the shock of losing his father and assuming his new role as king. Ned and Héloïse have grown quite close in the past year, and although they aren't in love, each regards the other as their best friend.
