Mick and Elin have been married just for a few days and after honeymoon returned to their two bedroom apartment in Los Angeles, California. Mick a native of Nevada has moved to Los Angeles seven years ago in order to pursue his education, he never expected to stay there any longer, but everything changed when he met Elin, a beautiful Swedish girl that just took his breath away the first moment he laid his eyes on her. Their dating period was rather short and they became a couple almost immediately. Elin moved in with the apartment he was sharing with his friends after four months and after graduating they decided to look for an apartment of their own. Mick works as a high school history teacher, while Elin is a NICU nurse.

Mick had always loved soccer and during his studies he found a group of friends that met every Saturday for a game in a local park. It had always been a great form of relaxation for him, but only until one Saturday weeks back when he fell so unlucky that he broke his own leg. After four weeks in plaster and rehabilitation afterwards he made a full recovery, however he is still in no hurry to return to his hobby.

Being a only child, Elin made it a no secret that one day she wanted a big family of her own. Luckily she and Mick agreed on this and when she found out she was expecting they were both overjoyed. Then came the surprise during her first ultrasound. There was not one baby, not two, but she was carrying three babies. It took the Alston's a few days until they came to terms with the multiple pregnancy, especially as Elin worked in NICU she had quite a few horor scenarios running through her mind. Luckily the triplets stay in NICU was short after they were born via c-section at 36 weeks and 2 days of pregnancy. First came Arlo, followed by identical twin girls Thea and Lila. Mick was very satisfied when he spotted all three of them inheriting Elin's auburn hair.

The triplets made their first steps just in time for their first birthday party, much to the joy of their parents. Mick and Elin's happiness lasted only until they realized that now they had three little ones to chase after and the triplets new trick was to take off at the same time, but each of them into different direction. The life in Alston family, was never boring from that moment on. Another joy for them came, when Mick received the "Teacher of the year award". While the prize in itself was a great honor, the money that came with it were much more appreciated in a family that goes through a package of diapers in a day.

The triple trouble turned two this year and much to Mick and Elin's joy all three of them started to sleep through the night. They are also finally fully showing their little personalities, Arlo is obsessed with animals. All animals. Trips to the ZOO or petting farms are his favorite things to do, unless he has a chance to chase after their neighbour's cats. Thea and Lila enjoy all things creative, they can spend hours playing with blocks or "painting" or "singing" in their baby words. Just as Mick and Elin were about to breath out after turbulent two years came the news that Mick's brother Mitch and his wife Aubrey passed away in a tragic car accident. They left behind a five year old daughter, Hannah. Without giving it any thought the Alston's decided to adopt the little girl.
Year 5
Family Event - Move to a new place
Housing - one story single family home

With two adults and four kids living in a two bedroom apartment the housing situation for the Alston's was not really ideal. After going through their financial options Mick and Elin decided to look for a new home and finally found a charming one storey single family home that they loved and could afford. The family now enjoys the luxury of four bedrooms and a big backyard where the kids can play.

Career Event - Change jobs within current field

While with the move Elin's commuting distance got shorter, Mick's school was now on the other end of town. When he got an offer from a local high school that was looking for a history teacher, he said yes almost immediately. His school is now five minutes car ride away from home and the added bonus is that it's one of the best and most wanted schools in Los Angeles and when the day will come, they don't have to worry about placing their kids there.

The seventh year of marriage turned out to be one of their best ones. Mick and Elin love their jobs. Hannah started third grade and is an excelent student, so excelent that her teacher is even considering moving her a year higher, she is also taking gymnastics classes and her trainer thinks she is very talented. The triplets are now in kindergarten and are just thriving there. They already made a bunch of new friends and love their teacher Mrs. Jones. And then there is the newest member of the family, baby Willow. After trying on and off for years Mick and Elin pretty much gave up on the idea of another baby only to find out they were expecting. Little Willow was born after an uneventful pregnancy and quick labor with a head full of auburn hair and the biggest blue eyes her parents had ever seen.

With five kids and working full time Mick and Elin had their hand and schedules full. When Elin's younger sister Alva called that she needed a bed during her intership in Los Angeles they were undecided as their house was getting full again, in the end saying yes turned out to be the best decision they could have made. The older kids just love their auntie Alva and she loves to take them on little trips in her free time so their parents can get a much needed break.

What seemed impossible just a few years back, became reality now. The Alston's welcomed their sixth baby, a little boy much to Arlo's joy. Hugo was born on an early Sunday morning at home with a help from a midwife. Mick and Elin really enjoyed the experience and plan on repeating it if they ever will be blessed with another baby. As his other siblings Hugo has a head full of auburn hair and inherited his daddy's hazel eyes. The older kids are in love with their baby brother, except Willow who is still too little to understand and prefers her blocks over cooing over her baby brother.

The dream about a big family is coming true for Mick and Elin. Just a year after welcoming Hugo, their family grew by two when Elin gave birth to identical twin boys, Felix & Beckett. Due to the risk of multiple birth, Elin could not repeat the home birth experience, but she was not very disappointed when both their new auburn haired sons arrived with a strong cry, all healthy, weighting just a bit under 7 lbs. The whole family is in love with them and Mick and Elin are already looking for a bigger home for their growing family.
