Henry and Eliza Tappett were married six months ago. Henry is a lieutenant in the air force, and Eliza is employed as a certified personal accountant. She does a lot of her work from home, but does have a small office space assigned to her. While, technically, the two of them live in a mansion, it is a fixer-upper sort of place and only about half of it is currently habitable due to a roofing problem. Henry assures Eliza that they'll have it fixed up in no time.

Eliza gets tired of living in "half a house" sometimes, but can usually see the potential for a great place to live. This year, Eliza found a new job that, while requiring forty hours a week at the office, is much more enjoyable to her (and is only five miles from home).

Henry and Eliza didn't have much time to practice their parenting skills with Mollie before Eliza found out she was pregnant. Eight months later, twin boys entered the world! Kai Henry and Cole Joseph are identical twins, and they seem very similar personality wise as well. Both have a shock of bright red hair and striking green eyes.
Henry rushed to make the house presentable--Eliza's pregnancy seemed to motivate him to work on the house in a way nothing else has so far. Eleven of the rooms are now decorated--with the other five just awaiting some new paint and carpeting.

Henry and Eliza celebrated their third anniversary by annoucing that Eliza was pregnant with their third child. They hadn't planned on having another child so soon after Kai and Cole, but it seems nature had other plans. Matthew Elijah Tappett was born fourteen months after his brothers--looking just like them. Kai and Cole are intrigued by their new little brother, though they see him as more of a plaything than anything. Mollie, who had no trouble adjusting to Kai and Cole, seems to have adopted Matthew as well and, if anything, is more protective of the little guy.

Henry was honored by a promotion to Captain, and all the new responsibilities that go along with it. He was also awarded an Air Force Achievement Medal for his actions in during a recent stateside operation. He won't tell Eliza much about it, except that everyone was uninjured. Henry and Eliza are also preparing for an upcoming deployment overseas. Henry, contrary to common military procedure, hasn't been deployed since he first graduated from officer training school. He is now preparing for an eight month deployment, which means that Eliza will need to handle the boys on her own.

Eliza found out she was pregnant a few weeks after Henry deployed, and, because his deployment was extended by three months, she had baby Aaron before his return home. Both Henry and Eliza's parents live within a forty-five minute drive of their house, so Eliza had some help. Baby Aaron was eighteen days old when he met his daddy for the first time. Kai, Cole, and Matthew were overjoyed to see Henry (they kept in touch with cards, letters, pictures, and via skype while Henry was away).

Henry and Eliza got the shock of their lives when they found out that Eliza was expecting again. They really thought that Aaron would probably be their last child for awhile because, seriously, raising four boys under age five is exhausting. It has been a trying year for the Tappett family. Henry was on a stateside deployment for six months of the year, leaving Eliza with five young children to care for--prompting Eliza to hire a local teen as a "mother's helper". The teen, Laurie, enjoys kids and spends several hours a day playing with the boys so that Eliza can get things done around the house. This year for mother's day, Laurie helped Kai, Cole, and Matthew put together a "special award" for Eliza to recognize all the hard work she does taking care of them, especially while Henry is away. Eliza loved the little handmade award and had it framed--it now hangs in the bedroom near the bed so that Eliza can see it before she goes to sleep and when she wakes up in the morning (and the middle of the night to feed the baby, soothe a sick tummy, or calm a frightened sleeper).

Lilah was devastated this past year when the family dog, Mollie, passed away. The vet guesses it was a heart attack or similar complete system shutdown. Lilah was unconsolable for days, prompting Henry and Eliza to consider getting a new dog. Kai, Cole, and Matthew also begged for a new puppy to replace Mollie. Aaron seemed indifferent, but was upset because his siblings were. In the end, Henry settled on a sweet little collie named Piper who the family adopted from one of the other military families who was moving out of state and couldn't take her with them. Piper is already beloved by all five children.

Just when they thought that life was getting managable, Henry got orders for a permanent transfer to a new airbase across the country. So, in the space of five months, Henry and Eliza sold their house, bought a new one, packed up five kids (and a dog), and relocated all their belongings across the country. The "new" house is actually an old one, built in the early 1800s. The house shows its age in some ways, but Henry is confident he can make all the necessary cosmetic updates. The kids seem to enjoy the new place (especially the large, shady yard). Eliza is having a hard time with moving away from her family and support system, but is making some connections through the kids. Kai, Cole, and Matthew all go to a local private school now (and Aaron and Lilah attend preschool there two mornings a week). Kai and Cole are also involved in their local soccer team and play baseball in the spring.
