In the past years of uncertainty, the royals have been working hard at keeping up their allies in the event of war, or even better to scare their rival off of the concept entirely and solve the conflict peacefully. Tarquin has especially been working with the military, and building up the defenses of the city. The palace guard has increased dramatically, as the protection of the royal family, much of it rather vulnerable, was a high priority for national security. Meanwhile, due to the pressure of the situation and not wanting to be left in a succession crisis, the crown and council have at last agreed to name Theodora Crown Princess and heir to the throne.
