King Cadfael Aneurin Llyr Geraint
Queen Consort Naiara Josune Maialen
Ieuan Calder Medraut (Cadfael's illegitimate son)
Princess Eira Josefina Iseult Seren
Crown Prince Tristan Aitor Mattin Idris
of the illustrious Royal House of Argall-Jasso
in the Kingdom of Egremont
A year following the birth of their daughter, King Cadfael and Queen Naiara welcomed a son -- Tristan, Crown Prince of Egremont. The kingdom exulted at the arrival of the royal heir, but the joyous occasion was tempered by rumors that old Guillem Vilaro was rallying his followers and planning a revolt against the crown. Lord Vilaro had never forgiven Cadfael for rejecting his daughter Remei in favor of Naiara, nor for turning his back on the alliance to topple Jasso rule. At first, Cadfael dismissed the rumors as the foolish ramblings of an old, dying man -- until a Vilaro scout was captured on the road to an outlying town known for harboring mercenaries. The scout was carrying an offer, signed by Guillem Vilaro and all his sons, to pay handsomely if the mercenaries would join in the fight against the king. Incensed, Cadfael immediately summoned all of his bannermen and told his kingdom to prepare for yet another war.
