King Simon Arthur William
Queen Consort Mary Eleanor
Of the illustrious Royal House of: Wales
In the Kingdom of Wales, in Brittania
It was a fever that took the life of King Arthur from the Kingdom of Wales. The sudden death of his father threw Simon into the crown, at the young age of 19 and now, he was expected to wed. Simon had been betrothed to the crowned Princess of Cornwall, Anne, since he was a young boy, but it wasn't who he wanted to marry. As his father and his mother, Queen Isabelle, planned, the marriage of Simon and Anne was to ensure the peaceful unity of the two Houses and the future of the kingdom. But he chose someone else. Mary.
Mary Hodson was the eldest daughter of the King's personal physician, Alric. Because of his status, Alric, his wife and their five children grew up on castle grounds and often played with the royal children. But though the physician was very respected throughout the kingdom, the people -- and the royal family -- expected Simon to marry Princess Anne. When Simon announced he would marry his childhood friend Mary, the initial reactions were shock and outrage. Most feared his decision was bad for the kingdom and its people; that this "love" will cause friction to resurface with the neighboring kingdom, of which King Arthur had previously calmed during his reign. But Simon was confident in his decision to marry Mary and that the kingdom would continue to thrive.
So, only a few days after being crowned the new King of Wales, Simon married Mary Hodson, making her the new Queen.
