Nicolas and Katerina were unlikely childhood friends. Nicolas went to a private school and had everything he could ever wish for. Katerina on the other hand, had a little rougher start at life. She went to a school close to Nicolas's, and she also had a cousin who was a good friend to Nicolas. Through that cousin, Nicolas and Katerina fast developed a deep friendship. When King Marios sadly passed away, the people of Gretalia expected Nicolas to marry another Royal, or at least a wealthy and beautiful woman. Instead, Nicolas introduced Katerina to the people as his fiancee. She is indeed a beauty, but not a wealthy one. That didn't stop the two lovebirds though, who the past two years or so has had a well hidden relationship.

Katerina is a bit worried about what everyone thinks of her, but Nicolas couldn't care less. He says that if they don't accept who he loves, then they're not rightful citicens of Gretalia.
