Isaac and Corrie are celebrating their tenth wedding anniversary. They have five young children--Josie, Judy, Steven, Nora, and Simeon. Josie is very outgoing and never hesitates to speak her mind. Judy is her quiet shadow. Steven, 4, is an energetic child who spends a lot of time running around outside with the other boys in town. Nora and Simeon are the babies in the family, and they stick close to Corrie. Isaac works in a sawmill and is also a passable carpenter--he makes little household items in the winters when work is slow. Corrie was a school teacher when she met Isaac; however, she has since stopped teaching and stays at home to tend the children. She has a reputation for baking the best pies around, and makes a little money on the side by supplying the mercantile with pies once a week.
