Jarrett and Charlize have been friends since they were two when Jarrett's dad moved in next door to Charlize's family. Mr. Carter was a single dad with custody of his three kids, Jarrett being the youngest. Mrs. Imell was extremely kind and offered to watch them while he worked. Of course, he gladly accepted the offer.
In a sense, this made it so that Jarrett and Charlize literally grew up together. And now here they are in high school and they have found themselves dating. Definitely wasn't exactly what they had planned but it happened and neither would wish it otherwise now that it's actually a thing.
