Gracie was 8 months pregnant when John’s childhood best friend, Avery, was getting married. Gracie hadn’t wanted to fly when she was that far along, but insisted that John go without her (after all, he was the best man). She had no idea that their sweet baby girl Zara would decide to come early! Avery’s wedding reception was only just beginning when John received a frantic call from Gracie, saying her water had broken and she was on her way to the hospital, their baby girl was on her way! “So impatient, just like her mother,” John had joked, right before the news sank in and before he knew it he was saying goodbye to his childhood friends and rushing to the airport to try to get an earlier flight back home. John arrived at the hospital only minutes after Zara had been born. Thankfully, Gracie did not have to be all alone during the birth, as her best friend, Rhiannon, was there. Rhiannon even thought to record Zara’s birth, so John would be able to see his first child being born, and they would forever have the video to look back on.
While in hospital, Gracie is diagnosed with asthma. She’d always had problems with allergies, but this diagnosis came as a surprise to her. Fortunately, Gracie does not have a particularly severe case, but she is still sent home with medication in order to control it.
