A new page has turned in the Summers' life. For three years, the four of them have journeyed doggedly onwards, despite the occasional mishaps along the way. It took quite some time for Erik and Reg to acclimatise to not only being parents, but being parents to children who have a heartbreakingly fond memory of their late mother and a warily distanced one of their father. But in time, the four of them grew their bonds of attachment to each other, and day by day the Summers became an increasingly cohesive family unit.
Then, one day, a surprise. One of Erik's friends from his university days dropped by in town from London, and they caught up with each other over a few visits. As it turned out, Colin had found himself a steady job as a journalist for a paper based in London, and he happened to know that they were looking for a columnist. Then, as he proceeded towards his latest assignment to cover some news in town, he thought of Erik and decided to persuade him to take up the offer. This was a bit of a surprise, for while Erik had taken up politics with a passion, he had until then never considered being a columnist; more than that, the idea of their moving to London for the job was an unexpected but intriguing prospect for Reg, who had always loved the city and wanted to live there since she went there for uni. They discussed the idea together, then with the children; within the next month, they received news that Erik had gotten the job, and they bought a smallish house in London.
They had moved in to their home for scarcely three months when Reg woke up sick, to the children's agitation and Erik's surprise. His suspicions were proved true when, not long afterwards, it was discovered that Reg was, in fact, pregnant! The couple had been trying to conceive for almost half a year with no luck, and just as they started to think one of them was infertile, Reg got pregnant with a daughter. After some discussion, they agreed to name her after Lisbeth, Aaron and Ana's mother, but not in her first name, because the children decided it would feel too odd for them. And thus, the baby girl was christened Alexandra Elizabeth - Sandra, as Ana took to calling her as soon as the name was decided upon.
