Alexander and Thalia met when they were 22. Alexander was a college student studying abroad in Greece. Thalia was a student at the university Alexander was visiting. They connected over their love for art, history, and the ancient Greek myths. After Alexander's term was over, he returned to the United States, but the two kept in constant contact. Alexander returned to visit for a few months after graduation, and when he returned to the States again, Thalia came with him. She had never been to the U.S. before. It was new and exciting for her. After a full year together, Alexander proposed. Thalia accepted, but she insisted on having the wedding in Greece. Alexander agreed, and they began planning. They married at 24, and set off on a three-week honeymoon across Europe.
