It has been five more years.
Two years ago, Jay had a massive stroke and passed away without ever regaining consciousness. Hayley mourned him for a long time, but is beginning to act more like herself. She is getting on in years too, but is still able to live on her own.
In the past five years, Jamie and Jim's family has grown exponentially. Lizzy got married three years ago, and she has a young son. Chris got married two years ago. He and his wife have a daughter. Amy is also married now, and she and her husband are expecting their first child.
Annie and Robert's family is also growing. They have several grandchildren now, and are busy being both parents and grandparents. Charlie and Julia have had two more children, both boys. Nicky married a civilian he met while stationed in Charleston, S.C.. The two of them have a two year old daughter and an eight-week-old son. Emma, now 24, is in her second year of med school. She's very focused on her studies and doesn't really have the time to pursue relationships. Joey, 23, graduated from college last year and is pursuing his dream of designing cars. He married his long-time girlfriend, Rachel, a few months ago. Benji is in his senior year of college, studying psychology. He has already applied to grad. school and would like to become a psychiatrist or a psychologist. Missy, 20, began her career in artistry just after her eighteenth birthday. She met an older guy in one of her art classes at the community center, and the pair began a relationship. While Annie and Robert don't really approve of the man, Missy and Harry were married four months after she turned eighteen. Turns out, Missy was pregnant at the time and had a healthy little girl six months later. Jonny, 18, is an outdoorsman. He is planning to go to college to study forestry and orienteering. Aaron, 15, still loves anything fast. He has recently gotten into snowboarding, skateboarding, and BMX biking--anything fast and dangerous is right up his alley.
Noah and Jana's family has melded well together, and the kids can barely imagine life without all of their brothers and sisters. Shelly, 21, is in her junior year of college, studying journalism. She wants to report on important world events. Adelina, 20, is an LPN at a local hospice facility. While it sometimes unnerves her to be around dying people all the time, she is happy to share her experience with family members and other loved ones. Adelina is also engaged to her boyfriend, Ricky. The two of them met in nursing school, and he is an emergency room nurse who is a bit of an adrenaline junkie. Zella, 18, is currently trying to figure out what she wants in life. After a catastrophic ACL injury in her senior year of high school, a future playing soccer is out of the question. Right now, she works as a waitress in a small diner near home. Morgan, 17, is in his senior year of high school, and he is working on trying to get one of his manuscripts published. Wil, 15, still enjoys the great outdoors, and he spends a lot of time with his friends in the "clubhouse"--an outdoor shack that he took great pride in building by hand.
Laurie and John's kids are growing up. Jackie, 14, is a typical teenage girl. She loves make-up, reality television, and shopping. Eamon, 11, is a mischievious prankster who often gets in trouble for his practical jokes. Franklin, 7, is nearly a carbon copy of his older brother.
Ode and Lorraine's kids are getting older as well--making their lives slightly easier, but no less hectic. Abi, 19, moved to Africa to help his Uncle Enitan out with his medical practice. He is now working as a medical technician. Kayin, 16, still plays her violin, and she is making quite a name for herself regionally. Laya, Lara, and Ayo, 10 1/2, are joyful kids. They do a lot together, but are very friendly and have no shortage of playmates.
Enitan is working hard to build his medical practice (which isn't really all that difficult, but Enitan puts in a lot of hours). He and Olivia have had three more children in the past five years. In addition to Lea, they also have four-year-old Betsy, three-year-old Tommy, and ten-month-old May.
