Seven years, and the Nicholas family has grown by leaps and bounds.
Jamie and Jim's family is doing well. Lizzy is 10 now, and Chris and Amy are rambunctious seven year olds.
Annie and Robert have added an astonishing five children to their family in the past seven years. They have quite the gathering at the dinner table.
Five years ago, Noah married a German woman he met on his frequent travels to that country. He has relocated permanently to Germany, and brings his small family back to the US for visits once a year or so.
Laurie got married three years ago, but she and her husband (semi-famous actor John Grayson [made up, of course]) are putting off having children until after Laurie is finished playing soccer. She's still competing at a very high level, though she's beginning to feel the wear and tear on her body.
Ode is now also playing soccer professionally, although he is able to make a decent living out of it. He married his high school sweetheart, Lorraine Withers, and the pair have a little boy named Abi.
Anitan is on his quest to become a doctor. He still plans to return to Africa to live and has visited there three times since he entered high school. He is currently in his senior year of baccalaureate study before going on to med school.
