The Porter family has had a busy seven years. The kids are all growing up now. Eddie is still working as a police officer, though he does more desk work now. Maggie has thought about going back to teaching in a classroom, but elected to take a position at local tutoring center instead. Maggie works most often with children in cyber school, being homeschooled, or otherwise not a part of the traditional school system.
Eva and Lily are all grown up. At the age of 23, both of them are now married.
Eva married a gymnast, Nathan Blaine Murphy. The two of them met at a Team USA gymnastic training center four years ago and started dating around that time. The two of them hit it off immediately, but Eva really wanted to focus on her competing at that time. She decided that, after this years Olympics, that she would be finished her competitive career. A few months ago, Eva competed and won an individual gold for balance beam, an individual bronze for floor, and helped her team win an all-around silver medal. She is happy with her career and is ready to settle down and start a family. Nathan just competed in his first Olympics (whereas this was Eva's second time). He was a bit of a late bloomer, but he did well--taking home two individual bronze medals. Eva is taking some time off to decide what to do with her life. She was always too busy to go to college, and she's thinking about doing that. Nathan is still competing and loving it. He has no plans to stop, and Eva is encouraging him to compete for as long as he can.
Lily went to college and played soccer all the way through. She went to school to become a nutritionist. She is now working at a nursing home, seeing to the nutritional needs of the residents. Last year, after graduation, Lily married her long-time boyfriend Ryan James Campbell. The two of them met in their sophomore year of college. Ryan is still in school, studying to be a physical therapist. He has another year left, but the two of them are doing well together.
Erin just turned twenty. She has remained an avid horsewoman, and decided to attend a prestigious all-girls school in order to study social work and ride horses on their competitive eventing team. Erin just started dating a guy she met through one of her roommates, but isn't sure how far things will go.
Henry, 19, is in his sophomore year of college. He is studying music therapy and is also planning to major in Music with a concentration in Piano. Henry loves music, moreso than any of his siblings. He also likes intramural sports and plays intramural soccer and softball.
Jessie, 17, is growing up fast. In the past seven years she's come a long way. She is a junior in high school now. She doesn't yet know what she wants to do with her life--maybe social work or psychology. She wants to work with kids who are in trouble and help them recover and live better lives. She's been a part of the Big Brothers Big Sisters program for the past year and a half, and she has really enjoyed getting to know her "little sister". Jessie is still going to a therapist and still dealing with nightmares; however, her PTSD and flashbacks have all but disappeared.
Bobby, 16, is the brainiac of the family. He skipped two grades in school, so he is a high school senior this year. He is still torn between going to MIT, Princeton, or Johns Hopkins, but figures he still has a few months to make a decision. Bobby doesn't have much of a social life, but he does value his family.
Lucas, 13, was diagnosed with ADD two years ago. His behavior has stabilized with medication, even though he still has a store of boundless energy. He loves soccer, and is one of the best players on the JV team. He is also doing karate and is thinking about trying out for the swim team as well.
Nicky, 11, is a good kid. He, like his siblings before him, plays soccer. Nicky is rambunctious, but he is also very kind-spirited. He enjoys things like treehouses, riding his bike, and attending his older siblings' sporting events.
