I can't beleive it! So many things have happened lately! I just went into sixth grade, and middle school is not my cup of tea, but oh well. Both of my best friends, Katie, who is bouncy, competitive, loud, and independant, and Rosa, the beautiful, glowing, smart, mysterious one, are in my class. There is a lot of homework, but I do enjoy the independance. Something wonderful happened today, though! I was writing my report on my favorite president (which wasn't really fun) and was about to fall asleep when Mr. Wyiallas called me to his desk. I was so nervous, my stomach was squirming in the drama of it all- the other two kids who had gotten called to his desk had gotten detention. When I finally got to the small wooden u-shaped table, he smiled at me. I was very confused. Then he spoke all loud, apparently it wasn't private news. "Emily, your wonderful essay is going to be published in Young Journalists!" The whole class gasped. I had written a paper about the issues of eating disorders, and it WAS quite nice work. When I told my parents, my mom squealed, and jumped around, (she is very excitable) where my dad scooped me up into a huge bear hug, telling me how proud he was.
My parents have recently decided that they would give me something I've wanted for years: a horse! Of course, since we live in a small townhouse with only a yard, we couldn't keep him or her at our house, but they said we could find a place where they keep the horses and feed them; but I could take care of her and ride her whenever I wanted to! I was so excited! It took far too long- a month- to get everything all done, but now I have my own beautiful, dark brown mare named Violet! I ride her a lot, and positivley love her!
Last night, I had a terrible dream about a stream filled with poison; it took away all of the people in the world's lives- except mine. I was all alone, and no matter how far I walked, I was all alone. So finally I drank the water and felt sooooo much pain -then woke up. When I went to go get a hug from Momma, I stood at the door for a few minutes, trying to stop crying before an entrance. I heard my parents talking: the conversation went sort of like this:
Mom: "Honey, the doctor told me why I felt so terrible. We're going to have another baby."
Her voice was all quiet and shaky; in a happy sort of way.
Daddy: at first he was quiet, probably surprised. Then: "That's great!"
That was enough for me. I didn't feel afraid anymore- I felt so completely giddy! I burst into their cozy little room, and hugged my mother. She smiled a watery smile. "You heard?" "Yes!" I kissed each of them good night- I didn't tell Jeffrey, I bet Mom and Dad would want to tell him, and besides, he's only two- a bit little to understand.
I feel so on top of the world!
