Year 1
I got transferred this year, so we had to move. We moved out of our apartment to a small, 2 bedroom, 1 1/2 bathroom house about an hour away.

Year 2
Another transfer! This time we only moved a half hour away. We have a 3 bedroom house now, as we are hoping to start a family soon.

I was laid off this spring. Now I've started selling artwork to make a little extra money.

Year 4
This year we started our family by adopting a little girl from Kazakhstan. She has beautiful dark hair and dark brown eyes. Her name is Aiday, but we call her Ada. Esmond insisted we make her middle name Eleonora. Ada, who is 8 years old, was beyond excited to get a forever family and immediately fit right in our family. She loves art, just like me and loves playing house with the neighbors. She's very outgoing and is making friends very easily. She is more than we could ask for.

Year 5
This year we took our first vacation as a family. Our destination? Brazil! We stayed in Rio de Janeiro. We went to the beach a lot, where Ada learned how to swim. Turns out she's a little fish! Now she wants to live there when she grows up. More excuses to go to Brazil! ;)

Year 6
We welcomed another child into our family this year! Little Ezekiel Simon was born! He has straight blond hair and handsome hazel eyes. Zeke was quite a scrawny baby, but has now grown into a chubby one-year-old. He's a very happy baby, but has his occasional "days". Ada took a little while to warm up to the idea of having a baby brother, but is now a very happy and proud big sister!

Year 7
This year we took a family vacation to Africa! Zeke stayed home with my parents, and they were very happy to take care of their little grandson. Ada loved all the big animals we saw on our safari. Now, of course, she's decided that she's destined to live in Africa.

I can't believe it. But it's true. Now, we have a pet goat! Esmond really wanted a pet for the kids, and Zeke for some reason loves goats. So now we have a pet goat. Ada named it Maisie.

Year 9
Oh yes, I should've known. "Maisie needs a friend, Mom! She's lonely!" The kids (and Esmond) have persuaded me into letting them get another goat. This time, Zeke got to name it. He named it Apple, after his favorite food.

Year 10
It hasn't been the greatest year. My dad died. He was only 65 years old. He was diagnosed with cancer, and it wasn't very long before he has gone. My mom has sold her house and moved closer to us. She's doing as well as you'd expect, but it's so hard for her and so sudden.

Year 11
This year, we decided Zeke was old enough, and we took a family trip to Disney World. It was a big hit with the whole family. Ada loved the roller coasters and Zeke loved all the Mickey Mouses everywhere. My mom, after a little convincing, decided to come along too.

Year 12
We decided to add to our family again, this time by adoption. We adopted 15-year-old twins, a boy and a girl, from Vietnam. They both have dark brown eyes and midnight black hair. Mai Lien, who changed the spelling to May, is a very shy and loves reading, especially romance novels. She is very passionate about playing soccer. She and her twin brother often play together. Quang Vien, who wanted to change his name to Quinn, is also very shy like his sister. He appreciates poetry and has developed a new love for classical music. Bot May and Quinn have had a hard time making friends, but were able to on the soccer team at school. They've earned a lot a respect that way. It has been a big change for our family, doubling the number of children we have, but we've gotten used to it. Ada is still having trouble getting along with her new siblings, though. But overall, it's been about as smooth as a transition you can get.
