In the past four years Harlan's family has expanded to include two new young wives. Winnie and Lotte's younger half-sister Annie joined the family shortly before her younger sister Betsy.
Much to her frustration Mina has welcomed a further two sons, brining her total to 11 boys. As her age increases she realises that she may never welcome the daughter she so craves.
Peta's eldest child and Harlan's eldest daughter Rosie has become the first of the Cooke family to leave the family and marry. She is now the second wife of one of her father's business associates, Charlie Handler, the son of an elder in their Church. She now helps her sister wife Nora to care for Nora's daughters Molly and Ada.
Milly is unhappy with Harlan's suggestion that the triplet girls Keziah and Delilah should get married soon. She wants for them both to attend college before even considering husbands or babies. For the time being Harlan and Milly have compromised and decided that the girls will be allowed to get their degrees but must get married right after that. Much to her surprise, Milly unexpectedly found herself pregnant and welcomed a second son Conrad. She continues to expand her skills as a pediatric surgeon.
Winnie is delighted to have two of her younger sisters living in the family, especially as she has welcomed two babies in the last few years, son Axel and daughter Harper.
Lotte has also expanded her family by two, adding son Freddie and first daughter Billie.
