Not long after Rosie's first birthday, Sean's Uncle Hugh promoted him. Sean had shown a great deal of business savvy, and with Bridget in the shop itself the business had grown admirably. Customers were charmed by the beautiful and friendly young mother, and her keen eye for color and style had the women flocking to her for advice. The young couple each received a raise in their pay, and with it they were able to move away from the shop and into a bigger apartment with plenty of room for the young family. It was just in time, as within weeks they got word that Bridget's older sister Fiona and her husband Robbie were coming to America, Robbie having been offered a job by an old friend of his father's. Bridget was overjoyed to finally have one of her siblings with her, and was doubly excited when they arrived and it was revealed that Fiona was pregnant! The couple stayed with Bridget and Sean for only a few weeks before moving to a small town outside the city where Robbie's uncle had a dairy. It is only a short train ride away, and the coupels take turns visiting on the weekends. It wa a good thing that their residence with Bridget and Sean was short, as not long after their arrival Bridget discovered she was pregnant as well! She and Fiona both gave birth to healthy sons within months of one another, Fiona naming hers Michael Connor, after her father and Robbie's, and Bridget naming hers Fionn Colm, after Sean's father (and also her sister) and her maternal grandfather.Round 3
Five years have gone by since Bridget and Sean made the long trip to the United States, and they have come to be very happy. Since Fiona and Robbie's arrival, Bridget's brother Liam has also come to the country. He was unable to find regular work for the first few months and was forced to live with Bridget and Sean, but after a few months of doing odd jobs and talking to people, he managed to get a good job as a driver for a rich couple in Manhatten. This allowed him to move out of his sister's home and into a boarding house, but his proud nature would not allow him to be a servant for long. He saved as much money as possible, living basically on potatoes until Bridget found out and insisted he take his meals with them, and after two years had saved up enough money to become a partner in a carpentry business with a friend he had made, another young Irishman named James Hennessey. After a few months Liam and James had their business thriving, making everything from cupboards and tables to intricate jewelry cases. Shortly after that, Liam married a young woman he had met while working as a driver, a nursemaid named Susan McGee. As a surprise for him, Bridget and Sean were able to do what they had planned to do since they arrived: send enough money to Bridget's family money so they could come over. They and Fiona and Robbie saved all chipped in, and the family arrived only two days before the wedding. A very-pregnant Bridget and Fiona, now with a little Nora Catherine as well as Micheal, met their ship, and the reunion when they brought them to meet Liam was heartfelt and happy. It was so grand to have the entire family together again, and Liam was thrilled to marry with his entire family there. Maeve and Michael were thrilled that their son had found a good Irish girl, and are in ratures over their grandchildren, another of which arrived only a month after they arrived. Bridget gave birth to a second son, whom she named Henry--an American name, as he was born on the fifth anniversary of their arrival in America--with the middle name Nolan for her mother's maiden name. Michael and Maeve moved in with Fiona and Robbie so Michael would work at the dairy, taking twelve-year-old Patrick with them. Fifteen-year-old Maureen, however, stayed to live with Bridget so she can go to high school, as the small town where Fiona lives does not have one. She is of course behind in her classes, as she never had the benefit of a real school, but not so far behind as people might think as her mother did teach her as much as she could at home. It is such a cozy feeling to have the entire family within a train ride, and Bridget and Sean love nothing better than to take Rosie, Fionn, and little Henry out to the little town down the coast to see their grandparents and cousins on the weekends.
