Though many of the Jewish survivors of the Holocaust made aliyah to Israel/Palestine in the years following World War II, newlyweds Gideon and Ziva decided to cross the Atlantic, first to New York City, and then south to Buenos Aires, Argentina. They had met during the liberation of Auschwitz, and stayed together while searching for what was left of their families before marrying in Paris.
