Re: Amara L's Halloween Congrats!
Username: MortParChocolatDgf: Bellatrix Maia Gray (healer) - her last name honours Oscar Wilde's Dorian Gray
Dbf: Mortimas Irving Silvermoon (warlock) - his middle name honours Washington Irving, author of 'The Legend of Sleepy Hollow'Maia was named after her grandmother, whom she despised (like much of the rest of her family), and she prefers to be called by her middle name. She was raised by a quite conservative family of magicians that were respected and well-known in their kingdom. Since her earliest childhood, she was expected to study magic and was sent to different elite boarding schools. Unfortunately, although she was very knoledgable, she never demonstrated a practical talent for any of the accepted branches of magic. She started skipping school often and went about exploring the marketplaces, parks, and outskirts of town her parents would never let her visit. That is how she met Mortimas.Mortimas comes from a family of 'zaubers', travelling magic users that go from town to town offering all kinds of services, artifacts, and entertainment. His mother is a healer, his father a street illusionist. Among his extented family are all kinds of enchanters, magical craftsmen and phychics. Although he loves his family and the variety of magic that they practice, he never felt like he could develop his full potential by learning how to create visual and audible illusions, love-charms and healing spells. When Mortimas first saw Maia, he was sure she must be the most beautiful girl in the world. Just to ensure the feeling would be mutual, he started whispering a love spell, but Maia had paid enough attention in school to recognise a simple charm and interrupted him. He was more than embarassed she had noticed, but also intrigued by her knowledge. Mortimas' family was spending the summer in a camp just outside the town's gates, and they started meeting almost every day. With both of them unhappy with their family situation, they developed a risky and, as gransmother Bellatrix would have said, 'inconcievably futuitous' plan - even though he didn't feel it was the fulfilling magical art he saught to learn and practice, Mortimas WAS a very talented illusionist...Soon, 'Maia' started attending school regularly again, while 'Mortimas' started showing a steep decrease in success with illusions and even the simples spells. The Silvermoon family had quickly figuered out the scam, which to them was nothing but an entertaining demonstration of their sons' talent. They would have never been able to pay for schooling, and didn't mind he had figuered out a way to get it for free; they agreed he could go to Maia's school until they moved to the next town. The girl was welcomed into the family like a daughter (at least temporarily) and given the opportunity to learn from the different practitioners of the family. When the summer came to an end, they packed up and left for the next town, but the lovers swore to see each other again the next year. And so they did. They have been together every summer for years now, and learning from each others families (without the knowledge of the Grays and to the surprise of the Silvermoons, who thought their son could never be so consistent in his interest in both higher magic and Maia). But now 'Maia' is about to graduate from the local magic school and will to be sent to a far-off academy for three years...
