After Queen Cordelia Amabel II's death her 16-year-old niece Alina Serene inherited the throne. She is the only daughter of already deceased Prince Linus, Cordelia Amabel's only sibling. Queen Alina Serene I was crowned exactly a month after the death of the former queen. During her coronation it was also announced that she would marry Jasper, the widower of the former queen.
Jasper wasn't really happy with his new arranged marriage. Cordelia Amabel had been the love of his life and he missed her deeply. He was not ready to marry anyone so soon after losing his loved one, let alone a sixteen-year-old girl. Alina Serene wasn't too happy about the marriage either. She had never expected to become the ruler, and had been secretly dating the son of her teacher, a commoner. But now as the Queen she was required to have a noble marriage. She felt awkward that she was arranged to marry the widower of her late aunt, but she didn't have a choice.
Though Jasper doesn't love Alina Serene romantically he has always treated her kindly and during the two years they have been married he has learned to really respect her. He is very proud of his young wife, who never expected to rule,and still has adjusted greatly to her new role as the Queen of Bryony and has really matured during their marriage. Alina Serene has learned to love her new husband who always treats her and his children kindly and is a great help with her royal duties, though she still sometimes misses the boy she used to secretly date. Jasper's children get along with Alina Serene mostly, but the oldest Adeline Therese thinks it's little weird that her father is married to her cousin who is only six years older than her.
A new prince has recently joined the Royal family. Two years after her coronation Alina Serene has given birth to her first child, Prince Elias. The royal advisors are relieved as the kingdom now has a new heir.
