Cole and Pax are toddlers now and tearing up the house. Kerry and Tanya are thrilled (and just a little bit scared) to welcome another baby boy into the house. As far as names go, Tanya is still stuck on Emerson, which she had hoped to use for their first son. Kerry still says no, but he admits that he's warmed up to it over the years. Tanya has a long list of names that she's excited about: just to begin, there's Emerson, Owen, Dane, Donovan, Brooks, Rhett/Everett, Kian/Keane, Walker, Ty/Tynan, Sam/Samuel, Riordan, and Ford. Kerry hasn't suggested anything on his own, but is lukewarm on Dane and Brooks. There are other names on the list that Tanya loves more, and she feels that she should get to use one of them because names mean so much more to her than they do to Kerry. Help them reach a compromise.

All her life, Alice has been interested in adopting a child, and she finally talked Steven into it. They became a foster-adopt family a year and a half ago. One of their first placements was a six-month-old boy named Alexavier. After his parents' rights were terminated, the DiMarias were offered the chance to adopt him, and they decided to change his name as well. They would one of his names to be an Alex- name, and one of his names to be a form of Xavier. You pick which goes first and which goes in the middle spot. New names can be English, French, Italian, or Spanish.

After a gap of several years to deal with their two crazy toddlers, Kathryn and Zhenhua are expecting again. This time it's twins--a boy and a girl! Kathryn, once again, is in charge of the FNs. She likes cute, modern names, and she's a little more creative (or kre8iv) with girls' names than with boys'. Zhenhua is fine with whatever, but would like them to have Chinese MNs. You can use the Chinese name page here on BtN, but remember that Chinese FNs (like Zhenhua's) are often a combination of two smaller names.

Matilda has just started at the Waldorf co-op preschool, and would you believe it, there are two other Matildas in her class! (One goes by Tilly, but still!) Milly thought she was giving her daughters names that would set them apart, but now she feels cheated. With her newest pregnancy (it's a girl again), she is more willing to go along with James's unusual taste for the FN. He prefers word names that are totally unheard of. He doesn't search lists of word names, he just cracks open the dictionary. The MN should be an actual name (not a word) that is classic but still a little quirky, like Esther and Matilda.
