King Jacques-Léon and Queen Emeline
The first year of marriage has passed, and with it have come many obstacles to overcome. Jacques-Léon and Emeline soon found that they were in fact quite a compatible match, once Emeline realised that they anger she was directing at Jacques-Léon was misplaced. She has requested that if he wishes to play and equal role in the governing of Rossinest that he renounce ties with his family, and, knowing what his father did to his wife's family he agreed. King Francois was livid when Jacques-Léon announced that he was renouncing his title in Delacroix as it meant that he would not be able to influence his son into making choices for Rossinest that would benefit his own kingdom as he had envisioned.
King Francois in a desperate bid to change Jacques-Léon's mind refused to allow him to renounce his title so technically Jacques-Léon is still a Prince of Delacroix, but as per the Verbena family's wishes he does not acknowledge it. Rather, he has embraced being a son of Rossinest whole-heartedly and he and his Queen are now very deeply in love. Jacques-Léon has earnt the respect of all of Emeline's brothers and they trust his judgement, though they still defer to Emeline for all decisions in the first instance.
A few months after her wedding, Emeline came down with a horrible stomach flu, but when it didn't pass after a few days the royal physicians were summoned. They quickly surmised that it was not a stomach flu that ailed the young queen, rather she was experiencing the early stages of pregnancy. The people of Rossinest were both excited and relieved at the news that there was a royal heir on the way for their new King and Queen. After her initial sickness, Emeline was well for the duration of the pregnancy, and Jacques-Léon was as proud and pleased as any expectant father could be. When labour started, Emeline was attended by her personal physicians as well as her sister-in-law, the Princess Annabelle. Belle had birthed three children of her own, so Emeline felt safe with her. After 17 hours of intense labour, Emeline birthed a son whom they named Gaspard Edmond Vincent Maxime.
King Francois was furious when he heard that Jacques-Léon and Emeline had welcomed a son as he had not even been informed as to the pregnancy. He sent correspondence to Jacques-Léon, the first communication between them in 10 months, to request to met his grandson, but this was refused. Though young Gaspard is technically a prince of Delacroix like his father, he has been given no Delacroix title on purpose to send a message to King Francois that Gaspard is no family to him, and to put further distance between Francois and Jacques-Léon.
