Of the House of Medici, of the duchy of Urbino.
A wedding was announced! Claudia's marriage to Francois was as lavish as those of her elder siblings, with a large feast as before. It was a very happy time, but also a bit wilder than that of Perotto or Vanozza. At the third day of the feast, Perotto broke news that Maria was expecting another child, and there was more rejoicing. Just after the formal announcement, Perotto cornered his father and whispered a few words of gossip. The twins, Tonio and Fede, have been seen courting their own friends. With Fede, it was not much of a surprise, given his generally laid-back ideas and charming demeanour, but with Tonio, it was a surprising news.
Some time after the "gossip", Fede approached Perotto with an expression of terrible fright. It turns out that he and his lover Rosa had had a night of passion after Claudia's wedding, and now Rosa is pregnant. Fede knew he would be expected to marry her as soon as possible, but he was terrified of telling his parents - much less Rosa's parents! - and asked Perotto to break the news to Romolo and Lucrezia. After some coaxing, the two of them, along with Tonio, faced their parents together with the news. Romolo was understandably distraught, but Lucrezia was much more concerned with getting an engagement done as quickly as possible. As it turned out, Rosa already told her parents about her pregnancy, and after numerous apologies from Fede's side of the family, a marriage was swiftly arranged.
A while after the very brief engagement and marriage, Tonio, too, announced his engagement. He had taken a fancy to a young Spanish girl, and had asked both her and her father for her hand in marriage. The girl, also named Maria (but called Mariluz, thankfully), was a quiet and dutiful girl, and Lucrezia took an immediate liking to her.
In time, two cousins were born in the space of a few weeks. First to come was Perotto and Maria's second son, Alessio, and soon after followed Fede and Rosa's son Teo. They had wished for their son not to feel that he was "unwanted" or "an accident", especially as they intended to hide his barely-legitimate origins until he was much older, and thus decided to name him Teofilo - "God-loved".
