Of the Royal House of Gilain, of the kingdom of Tayel.
Princess Viviana was a huge surprise to Queen Rosa and King Thaddeus, but a welcome one. Things had been good in Tayel since the war, the economy and and were recovering from war, the treaties were holding strong and negotiations to make the kingdoms allies have been going extremely well. The queen and king thought that another baby would be just the thing to round out their family. Seven children is a lot, they thought, but both had always wanted a large family. Besides, with the children all growing up, they thought it might be nice to have a baby one last time.
Mira has gone from a pretty little girl to a beautiful young woman in the past year, serious and studious like her mother, whom she greatly resembles. She has recently started the lessons that will teach her to rule well, and she now attends meetings with the advisors and the weekly public audiences with her mother so she can learn from her. She has shown an aptitude for diplomacy that makes Rosa and Thaddeus very confident in her. Offers for her hand have already started to come, but it willbe years before she is of age to marry, and Rosa and Thaddeus both balk at the idea of arranging a marriage for their daughter. They do, however, plan to intoduce her to several boys near her age that they think would make fine consorts, just to where it might lead.
As opposed to his older sister, who is mature for her age, Gabe is still mostly a little boy. He loves to play pranks ride horses and climb trees. He does work hardat his lessons, though, and he is forever asking questions. Rosa and Thaddeus love this curiosity of his, and Rosa loves his lightness that reminds her of his father. Mira's serious nature will need people to lighten it when she is an adult, and even now Gabe reminds her how important it is to have fun. Gabe is starting to look more and more like his father.
Out of all the daughters, Lily resembles her mother the most, with the exact same eyes and hair and figure. She is a very observant and insightful girl, especialyl for a nine-year-old. She is even more studious than Mira, and she has a passion for stories and music. She is very creative and has a sense of fun that makes her an expert at making up games. She is quite popular with the children of the palace because of this. She notices everything and has a good head for justice already, and Rosa is already planning her future in the diplomatic service.
The twins Gwen and Remus are as different as night and day outside of their looks. Both are mixtures of their parents and look about as alike as a boy and girl can. But Gwen is adventurous and active, a bundle of energy, but with purpose. She never wastes an ounce of effort, even when she exerts it all. She is a magnificent archer and very strong for a girl her size and age. Remus, on the other hand, is quieter, not from shyness, but because the way Gwen never wastes energy he never wastes words, only speaking when he has something to say. He is fiercely loyal and extremely thoughtful, bordering on dreaminess. Despite their differences, the twins are very close.
Nico, who resembles his mother, is the sweetest toddler anyone could wish. He absolutely adores his parents and all of his elder siblings, and all adore him. He became incredibly spoiled with all of these people, but it did not make him pettish or vain. He is always finding sweet things to do for his family, like bringing them flowers or giving them hugs. He was the most excited about a baby coming, as he has had no one close to his age the way the others have.
But he came close to not having a younger sibling at all. In Rosa's seventh month, she awoke with sharp pains in her back and stomach. The physicians were called for and confirmed she was in labor. All were hoping that they wer wrong about the baby's due date, but after a short and incredibly painful labor, their fears were realized when a tiny, still baby was born. Rosa and Thaddeus were terrified that the baby was dead, but after a moment of the physicians working they heard a cry. The baby was a girl, and they were optimisitic that she would live if cared for very carefully. The king and queen had planned on naming a girl Julianna, but decided on Viviana instead, to celebrate the life they hadn't thought their child would have. Iris was to continue the flower names, Julianna became her third name, and Adele is a name they hope will give her strength as the name of a female warrior in a traditional ballad. Baby Viva is small, looks like her mother, and everyone in the kingdom is thankful she is likely to live.
