King: Kieran Robert Constantine Laurence, His Royal Highness King Kieran (25)
Queen Consort: Elisabeth Gloria Rose, Her Royal Highness Queen Elisabeth (20)Of the Royal House of Covedale, of the kingdom of BellemarThe younger of the famous twins of Covedale, Kieran spent most of his life as the second son of King Julian and his beloved wife Queen Catherine and the shadow of the attention bestowed on his elder brother, Julian the Younger. Julian and Kieran were born on a hot summer's night with a full moon, as lucky a Covedale birth as can be remembered. The royal physicians had been expecting twins and worried for the safety of the queen and her babes. When the older twin was a hale and hearty boy, the king and his kingdom rejoiced, and when the second babe was also a boy, they could hardly contain their joy. It seemed a miracle when the Queen survived the arduous birthing of twin sons, and truly a gift from God when all three lived past the dangerous first few weeks. In their childhoods, both boys were treated equally, and received the same stellar education and training. Julian the Younger grew into the image of his kingly father, ruggedly handsome with dark gold hair and green eyes, while Kieran looked more like their mother, with dark auburn hair, ivory skin, and dark blue eyes. They were well-loved by the people of Bellemar in their youth as the Twin Princes. They were joined eventually by three younger sisters, lovely little princesses. As the boys grew older, King Julian began to groom his namesake as his successor, though he was his brother's elder by a quarter of an hour, and Kieran began to fall to the wayside of his father's attentions. Julian became one the most respected knights in the land, and Kieran became known for his quieter ways and his proclivities toward academics, healing, and philanthropy. The brothers complemented each other almost perfectly, and remained close as they grew into adulthood. But when war springs up between Bellemar and nearby Talwyn, the Covedale family finds that their luck can only take them so far. One of the younger princesses dies of a usually benign childhood illness, the King's age begins to wear away at his health, and just as the war seems about to end, bold and bright Crown Prince Julian is killed in battle. Though they were victorious and came out of the war more prosperous than before, the air of the kingdom is solemn as Kieran becomes Crown Prince. His political studies pick up speed again, at Queen Catherine's urging and direction, as King Julian's grief has only made his health worse. The issue of the now-Crown Prince's marriage was a bit of an issue however. The Queen resumed negotiations that had been started for Prince Julian with Kieran now as the suitor. A number of offers fell through when the princesses heard that instead of bright Julian, they would be getting cool Kieran, and Kieran himself, who had expected to be able to make his own decision for a wife, was sullen at the prospect of a foreign princess bride. The King of Goldfeld, however, was quite content to marry his oldest daughter to the younger Covedale twin. Princess Elisabeth is a lovely girl five years Kieran's junior with pale blonde hair and gray eyes. She is elegant and quiet, the epitome of feminine grace and manners. Kieran is happier with her than with some of his other options, but still not overjoyed to marry her. They are married shortly after Elisabeth's eighteenth birthday in a beautiful ceremony. In the winter of Crown Prince Kieran's twenty-fourth year, King Julian's health took its final turn for the worst, and the old king was buried as soon as the ground softened. Kieran ascended the throne and was crowned on his twenty-fifth birthday. Kieran and Elisabeth took up residence at the Royal Palace after living apart for the first two years of their marriages. They are still virtually strangers, and both are hesitant about living with their new spouse as they take up not only their roles as man and wife, but as King and Queen.
