Literary-themed Congrats - any interest?
I've been interested in hosting a Congrats that is literary-themed, but I'd like to know if there is any interest in such a thing. It'll be run and played like most other Congrats games, except the names in the namebank will be drawn from books and plays. Each round would have some sort of theme. I might choose a particular author, book or series (ex. Shakespeare names, Harry Potter names) or I might go with something more generic (ex. fantasy names, dystopian names). I haven't had a lot of time for free reading in the past few years and I've always liked learning about names used in novels, so I thought that this would be a fun idea that would put me in a "literary" mood.
I'm curious to know if anyone is interested in a literary-themed congrats. If you are, what would you like to see, or what do you think would make good themes? What do you like to read? Names are easy to look up using Wikipedia and other sources (if I'm not familiar with them), but if you don't offer suggestions you're going to pretty much get classics, epics, and fantasy. So give me ideas, and I'll probably ask for suggestions again in the sign-up round.
Game will start in one or two weeks, depending on how quickly I get my act together.

Good idea!
Well, how crazy...I was going to suggest classics, epics, and fantasies!
Haha, I'm interested. I think a combination of names pulled directly from literature and generic names would be really fun and give a good amount variety while incorporating some fresh names into our rotation.

Drooling over opportunity.
Can't wait! Sign me up!
Yes!

Sounds fun! Hopefully I'm back from my trip when you start because I'd really like to join in!
Some themes: Shakespeare names, Jane Austen names, Charles Dickens (surnames would be fun too), Chronicles of Narnia, names from Tolkien's Lord of the Rings, names from Thomas Hardy novels, names from Lucy Maud Montgomery (maybe some place names like Avonlea), names from Arthurian legends.

Me :)
I'd sign-up for that congrats
I usually read fantasy. I like most fiction too. I've started reading mystery recently. I think names from series would make fun and interesting themes. Such as Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, Sookie Stakehouse, Twilight, X-men comics or other comics, Dark Materials, Hitchhike's Guide to the Galaxy, Haunted, Mortal Instruments and Artemis Fowl. Shakespeare, too.

I'd be interested...
As for suggestions for themes, if you're doing plays, here are some playwrights that you might want to look into:
Arthur Miller
Lillian Hellman
Tennessee Williams
Henrik Ibsen
Anton Chekhov (sp?)
Also, Austen and the Bronte sisters have interestingly-named characters.
You may even want to look into characters from musicals...

I'm being a bit busy lately, but since it's expected to end this week, I suppose I'll be able to join.
I'd love to do a literature-themed congrats. Is it going to be a story congrats though, or any sort of fanfiction-congrats? Just wondering - either way is fine by me. And as for names: I'm up for almost anything, as long as there's choice enough to not have a certain child's name stick out very sorely by merit of having a strange theme that round.
There, so...not very helpful, am I?

It's not going to have a story-writing component (though you can write if you'd like). Nor is it like Britt08's current game. It's pretty much choosing the name of a family, but all the names will be drawn from books or plays. (:
