Nora was two years old when Ella once again became pregnant. The two years had gone by extremely quickly for them, wrapped up in parenthood and their duties. Nora had grown into a beautiful and darling child. Ella brought the children of servants and friends around her as often as possible, and already she had many friends. She is a chatty and energetic little girl who loves water and stories and jokes. Ella sees traces of her own mother in little Nora's curls and vivacity, though she looks like Ella in most respects. Both Char and Ella love their little daughter dearly and were very excited to find out they were going to have another baby.
However, the little baby proved to be a bit of trouble. The last months of Ella's pregnancy were in the hottest months of the summer, and she suffered from swelling in her feet. Char was very good and helped her as much as he could, but Nora wondered why Mama couldn't play as much as she used to. Ella's labor lasted twelvehours, but they were rewarded at the end with another daughter. They named her Lilia, a name both love, and Cecilia Daria after Char's sister and mother. Lily, as they call her, is a fat and healthy baby and very cuddly. Nora is fascinated by her new little sister and loves kissing and holding her.
