Another Kingdom Congrats? Read then post your thoughts...
So with Britt08's Kingdom congrats coming to a close, I thought perhaps I would pick one up as I know I really enjoyed it!
I had an idea of basically picking straight up where hers left off, but switching country based on the marriages our families made...
So the choices I can see were either England or Italy...
3 people had daughters married off to the English King George and his 2 younger brothers, Edward & Henry, so they could be the basis of our next royal family...
OR
We also have another set of siblings married into our Bialian families, Giacomo and Eloisa de'Medici who are Italian nobility and thus would still leave a royal family up for grabs.
Obiviously, this would require the players from Britt08's game in either the English royal brothers, or the italian nobles, to want to repriese their families for this to work...
Thoughts? Ideas?

I would love to pick up in England,
I havent read the others post yet so I am not sure on the consensus right now but I sadly do not have any Italian royalty in the family.

I really like the idea of another congrats like this, maybe even set in the same time frame or even the same kingdom, but i feel like the only way using the next generation would work is if EVERYONE who played my game plays their same families. I feel like that would be a bit restrictive.
I do sort of like the prequel idea, maybe with Walter, Magdalena, Joseph, and Adelheid's grandparents. But I think the easiest thing to do would be to do a compeltely different game or a game in another land with references to the characters we created (I confess, I'm kind of attached to our Kaarmann family and wouldn't like to do away with them completely). Personally, I've wondered what Orlais was like...
And for glassmidnight (and anyone else interested), my next congrats is going to be another of my incredibly nerdy fairy/folktale congrats, so there's that if you're intersted :)

Yay! Nerdy fairly tale congrats!
Yay!! I'm in!

Orlais
I too have wondered about the tiny country of Orlais.

Thats a great idea... The same timeframe but a completely unrelated to the Kaarmann's, BUT we can reference them if we so desire... Could be something there.
BTW - am now REALLY looking forward to your next congrats, a nerdy fairy/folktale theme sounds so much fun!

I would want to start anew! I would like to practice more writing. The ideas are great but I would desire a new type of setting.
I'm thinking of the same timeframe but starting fresh with a new country, but that gives us the ability to reference back to the Kaarmann families etc if we wish...
Perhaps we shall visit Orlais?
BTW - I also loved Dragon Age, but I have to admit, I loved Morrigan's sarcastic wit!

Honestly, I think I'd rather start afresh, since this might involve certain of us playing other players' characters. For instance, if I were to say:
Adelaide consulted her sister-in-law, Queen Élisabeth of France, who said, "Blah, blah, blah."
This would mean that I would be actively playing another player's (namely, glassmidnight's) character. The problem here is: what if I write something that is conflicting with glassmidnight's (as an example) view of her character? This could be an issue that could be avoided by just starting anew.
However, that said, I do think it is an interesting, potentially-fun idea, as long as everyone can agree not to get upset if a player takes one of their characters and messes with it (which, I'll admit, I don't think I can agree, as I have very specific characterization ideas of certain characters).

My, that Elisabeth, so eloquent. :)
I agree that the problem of playing other people's characters could cause some problems and "bad blood," and I would definitely like to avoid that.
Another idea would be perhaps to play further in the past, that is, these character's ancestors and toward the end, perhaps we see Walter, Magdalena, Joseph, and Adelheid being born. Or we could go into the future and have cameo references to the current players.
It also might be fun to play something a little more fantastic. Perhaps Arthurian, or (forgive my nerdiness) a magical kingdom.

Magical Bial creation?
I like your fantastical idea of Arthurian magical kingdom! Who say's we don't go back and into time with the Bial Kingdom's creation??

Hmm I didn't think about that aspect of it, but you are right about the potential for bad blood... I love the idea of a magicl kingdom or arthurian (i shall join you in your nerdiness!), perhaps for another one? I'm not quite ready to be done with the Kaarmann family completely!
I think i'd rather go forward in time a couple of generations and have cameo references...
