In 3 years, there's been a lot of activity going on in the MacKenzie family. They're now up to 12 children!
Mato is now 20 years old, and is playing Division 1 soccer as a junior at Boston College. He's majoring in Psychology with the intent on playing Major League Soccer (and possibly Olympic or World Cup level) and then being a Sports Psychologist for young athletes.
The next youngest, 16-year-olds Lara-Catrin and Lena-Sofie joined the family at age 15 from Switzerland. Both girls speak multiple languages, and love conversing with Lyra in French. Lara-Catrin and Lena-Sofie decided upon adoption, when asked if they wanted, to change their names because they wanted to be a bit different from each other. Lara-Catrin loves her biology class in school and is considering being a doctor. Lena-Sofie enjoys her photography and creative writing classes, and is a writer for the school newspaper.
Conor and Romy are now 12, and are still great musical talents. Conor is an old and gentle soul, and he seems to have caught the eye of most of the girls in his class. Romy joined the school orchestra, still playing violin, and recently made the all-state middle school orchestra.
Mac (now 11) and Adam (now 9) are following in Mato's footsteps with the soccer (or football as they still call it). The coach of Mato's team even lets them help out with providing water to the players and running errands for him. They each play on their respective school teams.
Claire and Caitie, now 9, have been training in skating on a much tougher schedule. Both girls competed at the United States Junior National Figure Skating Championship at the Juvenile level this past season. Claire and her pairs partner Leopold won the Juvenile Pairs title. Caitie and her ice dance partner Kolya won the Juvenile Dance title. Both girls are moving up a level to Intermediate for the next season.
7-year-old Lucy Grace took some skating lessons for a little while, but decided she liked it for fun and didn't quite want to compete. However, she discovered snowboarding on a family trip and is now addicted to it.
The newest additions to the family, Sława and Iza, are 6-year-old twins adopted from Poland. They love being in a large family, especially with 5 older sisters! The girls still go back and forth between Polish and English especially when they get excited. Sława is taking ballet classes, while Iza is leaning more towards jazz dance.
