Tom and Felicia decided, a year after Celie's birth, that the time was right to add a dog to their household, and they adopted a sweet black Labrador named Susie. The children all adore her, and she is very gentle even with little Celie. They were at first afraid of how Stella would react to her, but the two are great friends and Stella can often be found cleaning Susie's face! Susie takes this patiently, as if she knows it's for her own good.
