J.D. and Maggie were married for only a few months when they found out they were going to be parents. The pregnancy wasn't planned -- they had wanted to wait a couple years before having kids -- but they were nonetheless excited about welcoming their son or daughter. Maggie was positive the baby was a boy, while J.D. was hoping for a little girl. As luck would have it, they were both right: Maggie gave birth to twins on her and J.D.'s one-year wedding anniversary. Jamison Gabriel and Kalea Isabelle were the best anniversary gifts their parents could have asked for.
After the twins came home, Maggie got some tragic news from her younger sister Louie. Louie's husband Xander was a musician, and their family often went on tour with the band. In fact, all of their kids were named after the city in which they were conceived. But with Louie about to give birth to a fourth little Elliott, she stayed at home with the kids while Xander played one last gig. Unfortunately, the tour bus crashed on the icy roads up north and Xander was killed. Louie, of course, was devastated, and she moved in with J.D. and Maggie so her children could be close to what family they had left.
