The King and Queen of Belgium are pleased to announce the birth of their third grandchild. Hugo Ferdinand Lucas Edward was born to Princess Gertrude, oldest daughter of the royal couple, and her husband, Prince Alfred of Great Britain. Also excited about the birth of baby Hugo are his cousins, Princesses Alexandra and Antonia, the 4- and 1-year-old daughters of Crown Prince Yannick and Princess Raffaella. Yannick and Raffaella, along with their children, returned home just in time to meet the new Prince; they had been in Nepal with Raffaella's father to celebrate the opening of a new children's hospital.
There have also been rumors that Princess Mina, the third child of the royal couple, has become engaged to her childhood sweetheart, Étienne Durand. Étienne is the son of Gustave Durand, a controversial Belgian politician, and the public have expressed mixed feelings about the engagement. However, the royal family has expressed nothing but support for the relationship.
