Re: KUY Immigrant Congrats Sign Up
UN: JN316
Time Period: 1848
Country of Origin: Ireland
LN: Connolly
DH: Patrick Joseph (19)
DW: Aveline Margaret [Ruane] (17)Pádraic Seosamh Ó Conghaile and Eibhlín Mairéad Ni Ruadháin were both born and raised on tenant farms in County Clare, Ireland. They survived the Great Famine of the 1840s, but their families were not so lucky. Alone and with no hope of things in Ireland getting better, they set sail for America. They met on board the ship and grew closer as the time passed; they were married by the time they landed in Boston three weeks later. Immigration officials Anglicized their names to make them more pronounceable in America, but Patrick and Aveline were just happy to start a new life together.
