After about a year and a half of marriage, Tamir and Ayelet were pleasantly surprised with the news that they were expecting. The pregnancy went on without much complications until Ayelet was about 25 weeks along. When that milestone was reached, the baby decided he wanted out. The doctors didn't know why, but they managed to get him to stay another three weeks before they could not hold off the labor any longer. Daniel Nathan came into the world on his parents' wedding anniversary, weighing a tiny 2lbs 7oz and was 14 inches long. The doctors didn't think he had much of a chance, but one of the nurses saw his potential and helped get him the best doctors. By his due date, Dan was ready to go home. His parents were thrilled and miraculously there were no longterm complications for the little boy, although at the moment he is slightly small for his age, but nothing compared to what he was.
After the big scare with Dan, Ayelet and Tamir decided not to have any more children, the "normal" way, at least not in the near future, anyways. So they set their sights on adoption. Immediately they were matched with a young woman who was pregnant with her fourth and couldn't afford another child. They really liked her and when the child was born, they promised to keep her updated with pictures and letters a few times each year. They also vowed, to themselves, to make sure that Gilad knew he was adopted but that he was loved as much as his older brother and any siblings to come. When Ayelet and Tamir brought home their new son, Dan fell in love with his little brother. Dan loves to watch Gilad sleep and to try and play with him, even though he doesn't understand why the baby never plays back.
