For the first few months after their wedding, Eirian and Darius were concentrating on their relationship. They wanted children, but they had decided to let things happen naturally. For eight months they continued their work; he as Corwn Prince and a part of the military, and she as a healer and ehr new duties as a princess, including teaching archery, at which she is quite talented. They traveled to Eirian's two estates, which had been cared for by the royal family. They were still dealing with all the hero-worship and admiration Eirian was recieving, but it was diminishing as her novelty wore off. But it was revived more passionately than ever when, eight months after their marriage, Eirian announced her pregnancy! Everyone was excited to see the royal line carried on, and the families were thrilled, but none more than the happy couple themselves.
But halfway through the pregnancy, the unthinkable happened. Eirian was riding through the city when she was attacked! An arrow was fired and nearly hit the pregnant princess. Luckily her horse reared and the arrow missed her, and the woman who shot the arrow was apprehended. He would not say a word about what happened or why he was attacking the pricess, but he was tried and convicted of treason and attempted murder, and he was sentenced to life inprisonment in a remote prison. Eirian was shaken, but unhurt, and four months later delivered a healthy baby girl. Arianna Laura Magdalena Jacqueline was welcomed with fanfare and celebrations. Eirian's family was able to be present for the bith. Her adoptive mother Rebecca, father Justin, grandmother Miriam, and sisters Tessa and Elizabeth were all able to greet little Arianna into the world, and King William arranged a three-day long festival on the palace grounds to welcome this first grandchild. Everyone is excited with this fist grandchild/niece, but none more than the parents themselves. Arianna is a beautiful and sweet baby, with bright eyes and her mother's red hair. Her first name is one Eirian and Darius had agreed upon, Laura is of course for Eirian's birth mother, and Magdalena is for the late Queen Malena, who preferred this longer version of her name. Irene is for Darius's paternal aunt, who he grew quite close to after his mother's death. Eirian and Darius are happy to have put the event behind them in the wake of their first child's birth, but their families have not and King William is still trying to discover the reason the man tried to assassinate the princess.
