In the Empire of Yarrow
As Elisabeth’s, Princess Almena’s and Sir Bartholomew’s only daughter, second birthday drew near, the family received a letter from Bartholomew’s family who lived in the far northeastern part of the empire. It explained that Sir Bartholomew’s cousin and his wife had passed away and left him as guardian of their newborn son. Almena, being in the same position herself as a newborn babe, felt it her duty to take this child in and raise him as their own. Bartholomew, forever empathetic to his wife, agreed to adopt the child. He came to them as Vladis Stefans but they decided to give him Bartholomew’s name in honor of his generosity.
The people of Yarrow are thrilled to learn of Empress Adele’s recent pregnancy. Six years had passed since Princess Malvina’s birth and everyone believed the family to be finished expanding the empirical family, including the rulers themselves. Even though Princess Anne-Ophelia’s conception was unplanned, her birth still meant security of the Emperor’s line.
Tildon returns after his six year tour. The seas were becoming too rough for travel and Omolara is thrilled about his stay. Being a foreigner to the land and to the people, rumors had spread that she had prayed to her gods for the tumultuous seas. They also believed that her sorcery was at play. “Tildon is doing a great thing for the empire by discovering new trade routes and lands for his Empress-Sister. The lady Omolara and her foreign and blasphemous magic should not interfere.” As expected, she conceived their fourth child.
Colm and Georgian welcome their first child, a son which they named very unusually especially for empirical tastes. Faustina is none too pleased of the name and begs her son and daughter-in-law to reconsider. They refuse. “There is no need for such a dusty and stuffy name for our son,” Georgiana tells her. “Besides, he is not destined to rule and so he does not need a ‘proper’ name.” Georgiana had always butted heads with her mother-in-law who had always found her too high strung and liberal to be a part of the empirical family. Nonetheless, it was Adele’s decision for them to marry and because of this, Faustina had to bite her tongue. Aghavni is happy for her brother and her new nephew but longed for a baby that she and Frederick have tried for for so many nights.
