In the Queendom of Thaeris
The time of mourning has passed for Vaza, and she has married her darling Samir. In a short while, she was found to be pregnant - and surprisingly, her sister-in-law Frieda is expecting too! Vaza and Frieda spent their time mostly together, while their husbands Samir and Giovan walk around discussing their wives. Giovan and Frieda had wanted only this one child, not wishing to have many children as Zubia and Desmon before them (Giovan thinks he might not have the patience for it, and Frieda is worried she doesn't have the energy for three children like her in-laws), and Vaza too has found herself restricted to this one pregnancy due to Zubia's whispering to her that Sul'i told her that Vaza's womb is barren, but Sul'i took pity and granted one child.
In time, both Frieda and Vaza gave birth to daughters, girls whose birthdays are separated by one day only! Frieda's daughter was the elder - Jelisaveta, or Jelisa, had her wails echo throughout the chamber after a short and easy birth. Vaza's labour was more difficult, but her daughter was born easily. At first Vaza was hesitant to name her daughter after her own late sister Lucrezia, seeing as the High Priestess Zubia had named two of her own daughters after Crezia, and had agreed with Samir to name the girl Valentina instead, after its grandfather. But when the baby was born, Vaza took one look at the thick blonde hair so reminiscent of Lucrezia's and named the child Beatrice, or Beatri.
In the time of rest, a plague began to make its way into Thaeris. More and more people began to complain of digestion problems, and lives were beginning to fall as time goes by. Zubia was still very much traumatised by the last time the plague destroyed Thaeris and claimed the lives of her mother and newborn sister, and desperately beseeched Sul'i about it. Desmon, however, wanted a more straightforward, scientific method (a way of his mind that had often been criticised as "tainted by the Strangers" and "untrusting of the goddess") and contacted his sister Kiara to help. It was their investigations, however, that revealed it was indeed the river which was contaminated, and after orders were given to drink from another slightly farther located spring instead, the plague died down.
Happy news then came forth as the twins Ezio the younger and Arlet announced engagements. Always being close to each other, the twins had also gotten engaged with a pair of siblings. Ezio is engaged to the Viscountess Honora, while Arlet to the Viscount Dorian.
