In the mighty Kingdom of Solandra.
(You might notice that I am continuing the House of Ramal's journey from Nyx's KUY congrats, except with a few edits. I miss them folks.)
Don Carmelo, the king of Solandra, has died. In a strange twist of fate, Carmelo's death was an entirely accidental one, when his love of archery and hunting came back to bite him at the heel. Don Carmelo had been playing in a game of arching when one of his own guards mistook the arrows as an enemy attack and sent a shot to His Majesty's direction, hitting him for a one-shot kill. Solandra lay in chaos after their king died in a time of peace; what's more, his queen has also died before him while giving birth to the Crown Prince, and the king's second wife was never considered the first queen's equal by the people. Unfortunately, the Crown Prince Dani was only twelve years of age by the time of his father's death, and was certainly not fit to rule yet.
In the time of uncertainty following Carmelo's death, his illegitimate son - not officially a member of the royal family, but grew up with them nonetheless - was appointed regent, along with the Dowager Queen, Carmelo's second wife Nedda. The illegitimate son, a certain Conde Vasco Alessandro da Tavullia, has always been a devout protector and guide to his younger half-brother Dani. Dani, too, is very close to Vasco, having spent basically his entire life with the boy. And now while Dani, at the age of twelve, is too young to rule, seventeen-year-old Vasco is considered fit to be regent.
Years pass by swiftly, and just after Dani has turned seventeen (the same age his regent Vasco, now twenty-two, took his duty), he was immediately crowned king of Solandra. Young Dani was also quickly married to the engagement set to him years ago when his father was still living, that to the Duchess Ivette de Goya. The two were married young, and were king and queen before they even actually noticed what was going on.
