In the Kingdom of CaladanNOTE: Since William and Isabella had a son, I changed Phillip from "Crowned Prince" to just "Prince."Crown Prince James came of age at nineteen, at which point he adopted the name King William II. As per Caladanean custom, it was only then that his wife, Duchess Isabella of Allar, was allowed to come live in the royal castle (this was based on the antiquated belief that the young royal couple might consummate their marriage before it was appropriate to do so). The new king and queen then participated in a second marriage ceremony, meant to symbolize the dawn of William II's reign. Having grown quite fond of each other over the years, corresponding and visiting with each other often, they wasted no time in consummating their marriage, and Isabella was soon with child. She gave birth to healthy son nine months later, and the kingdom rejoiced. The boy was christened William Giancarlo, after his father and grandfather. He will go by Prince Joseph until he becomes king.Princess Eleanore was glad that Isabella seemed to have no trouble conceiving and bearing children. For some time, she had been considering joining a convent, which would have meant that she could never marry. Now that an heir to the throne is secured, this is looking more and more like a definite possibility.Prince Phillip, meanwhile, had always been interested in joining the military. Well-built and athletic, a life in the army seemed a proper fit for him. Soon after finishing his primary education, then, he departed for the renowned Valcrest Military Academy, where he quickly became one of the top students.Lady Caroline started acting out and rebelling against authority at a young age. Now that she is fifteen, her behavior is borderline dangerous. She has been caught numerous times with young men of the court and has sometimes been seen drunk in public. She threatens to sully the reputation of the House of Savoy, so William is considering sending her to the countryside for a while. The Dowager Queen, now that she no longer has official duties as her son's regent, married a low-born noble, Sir Thomas Carlisle. He had been knighted for bravery in war, but his status was still such that he was rarely invited to court. He and Elizabeth had met at a tennis match and had easily fallen into conversation. Over the years, they kept in touch and soon found themselves falling in love. They were finally able to marry when William became king.
