The kingdom of Jacarand decided to wage war on Forestmere, the reason being that the people were disrespecting Andra and attempting to dethrone her. Andra was sent to a small castle for safety, but during a raid on the castle she was kidnapped and taken back the Jacarand without her children. Alyk was killed in the final battle, leaving Jo and Alexandre to battle for the throne. Najiyah and Josepha returned from the South during the was and supported their brother, but Lavender declared her love and support for Alexandre, finally splitting the few remaining ties between her and Josepha. Neri, Lyddie, and Fonso were shocked by a revelation from a noble that they were in fact illegitimate. They left the capital in disgrace and were sent to Jacarand, where the king did not accept them as royalty. Andra pleaded for a place in court for them and received it. In a long and complicated battle of loyalties, Jo defeated Alexandre and became king. Alexandre and Lavender were given a small estate and banished from the court of Forestmere. Although he was only fifteen, Jo assumed the throne, marrying a princess of Molsland and shortly gaining an heir, Evan.
