Alexander and Mirabelle were borth a bit worried when less than a year after Cecelia's birth, Mirabelle discovered she was pregnant again. Theri concern only increased when Mirabelle's pregnancy did not progress as it should have. She didn't feel the movement she should have and was prone to weakness and pain. The baby was born two months early. It was a son, but neither Alexander nor Mirabelle was surprised, though they were heartbroken, when he only lived five hours. He just had time to be baptised. They named him Gabriel Joshua Matthew, as Gabriel means "strong man of God" and Joshua "God is salvation". The entire royal family was devastated by baby Gabriel's death and Mirabelle's illness. Even Cecelia, only a year and a half old, could feel the depression of everyone around and seemed sadder than her ususally bubbly self, but Wyatt was especially affected. Having already lost his mother, the loss of his brother terrified him. He had grown to adore his fun-loving father, beautiful new mother, and darling baby sister and was terrified for weeks that he would lose them as well. It took a lot of convincing from Alexander and Mirabelle to calm him down.
Mirabelle recovered slowly, and three years later she and Alexander thought the time right to try for children again. This time the pregnancy was weakening, but not as incapacitating as the one before. The pregnancy went to term and Mirabelle delivered healthy twin girls. Alexander, Mirabelle, Wyatt, and Cecelia were all overjoyed. Mirabelle named them Rosabel and Susanna, both flower names, because they were as beautiful as flowers. While Alexander and Mirabelle were thrilled with their daughters and relieved beyond belief that they had all survived, but the kingdom is beginning to worry. Though the lineage of the kingdom is not patriarchal and the ruler chooses whichever of his (legitimate if possible) children he thinks will be the best monarch, a prince traditionally fills the very important position of Inspector of Arms, an important military position that includes overseeing the supplies sent to troops. It hasn't been required for a woman to fill that position for over a hundred years, and the people are steeped in their tradition. But the king and queen plan on more children eventually, and they are making plans for Mirabelle to officially adopt Wyatt in a few years, making him legitimate and a prince.
