DS: Hugh Artur Darcy (10)The ten years since Hugh's birth have been anything but uneventful for the Darcy family: Cynthia, Antonia and Maxima have all married and have had children of their own!
As it's usual with the oldest, Cynthia's marriage was eagerly anticipated by her parents, especially Elizabeth, who was shocked to realize that she obsesses just as much about her daughters future husbands as her own mother used to do.
Cynthia met Basil Parker at the ball her parents gave in celebration of Elizabeth's 40th birthday. On introduction, they fancied each other immediately, got caught up in conversation and dancing until the ball ended. A couple of months and countless visits to Pemberley by Mr. Parker later, he proposed to Cynthia, and she happily accepted. They now have two children, Victor and Helen, and currently another one on the way.
At the same ball, Antonia as well met her future husband, although she did not immediately realize it. She was introduced to James Hodges by her aunt Jane, who happened to be friends with James' mother. Antonia's first impression of him was that of a polite, yet quite bland young man. That impression had to be corrected when she met him while visiting her aunt's family at Netherfield three years later. This time, they got along much better and subsequently fell in love. They live near Pemberley and have a son named Marcus.
Maxima's love story, however, didn't go quite as smoothly. Two years ago, while staying in London with her aged great aunt and uncle Mr. and Mrs. Gardiner, she met a young Scottish aspiring business man by the name of Alasdair Reid at a tea party. They both recall falling in love at first sight and being devastated when Maxima had to return home to Derbyshire again. On hearing of their daughter's acquaintance, however, Mr. Darcy and Elizabeth were more than sceptical upon the lack of the young man's history and reputation. Maxima, headstrong as ever, persuaded her parents begging and crying to invite Alasdair to Pemberley. Elizabeth was charmed immediately by the young man's taking personality, Mr. Darcy remained distanced until he was sure that Alasdair had a respectable profession and bright prospects to a good future. Alasdair and Maxima married a year ago; they live in London and have recently welcomed their first daughter Victoria.
