I have thirteen kids. My eldest ( http://inspire-magazine.org/images/articles/ys1.png ) is named Radana Cai, and is nine years old. Ana, as we call her, has attitude, but is really sweet and helpful when she wants to be. My second eldest ( http://garyblack.myadventures.org/blogphotos/myadventures/garyblack/swaziorphan2.jpg ) Kagiso Gayle, and is eight. Kagi is sweet, and almost taller than Ana. Lael Joseph ( http://garyblack.myadventures.org/blogphotos/myadventures/garyblack/Swaziorphan.jpg ) is the eldest of the quadruplets, who are seven. Lay is shy and would rather hide behind his father or myself than play when there are others watching. Abiah ( http://media.photobucket.com/image/seven-year-old%20african%20boys/vroomer64/Uganda%2520Mission%2520July%252007/Princess.jpg ; ignore the flowers; I'm making it a boy ) is the second eldest. Bia is very friendly, and makes up for Lay's shyness. Dacre ( http://vcmstatic.sabc.co.za/VCMStaticProdStage/EDUCATION%20SITES/SABC%20KIDS/StaticImage/Summit%20Images/Latuando%20-%20South%20Africa.jpg ; ignore how he's dressed) is the third eldest quadruplet. Dakki is one of those happy-go-lucky kids. He loves his brothers. Zadok ( http://s3.hubimg.com/u/1855782_f120.jpg ) is the youngest of the quads. Zadi is a smiley kid, but shy, like Lay. Balfour ( http://c.photoshelter.com/img-get/I0000LY1pIuxdT7A/s/650 ) is the middle of my first set of triplets, who are five.

Much to my annoyance a two-year-old deleted a half-hour of work on this, but I will try again:
My husband, Peter Sidney Jr., and I were at the time the parents of 5 children: our ten-year-old triplets Benjamin Mark "Jamin", Virginia Jane "Ginger", and Rebecca May "Becky"; our 6-year-old daughter Rhoda Lucy; and our 5-year-old son Peter III. I spent my days trying to homeschool 5 children and that can sure be wearing. It was extremely frustrating when things didn't go as planned, but of course, things never do.
I was about to start dinner that night when the power went out. My husband Peter, God bless him, could see I was at my wits' end and stepped in. "This looks like a great opportunity!"
I had no idea what he had in mind, and I'm fairly sure he didn't either, so I just kinda stared at him. After a moment he said, "Bundle up and hop in the van. Everyone grab a flashlight." The kids went scurrying to find coats and flashlights in the waning light and I watched to see what Pete would do next. "You too, Love," he told me. "And go warm up the van." I threw on my coat, grabbed a flashlight, and headed downstairs. I helped Little Pete find a flashlight and started the van, making sure all the kids were safely buckled on. My husband came downstairs carrying two paper grocery bags and set them in the trunk. He opened the garage door, then sat next to me in the front passenger seat. I passed on the question I'd just been asked at least 25 times: "Where are we going?"
"Out." I backed out of the garage. "Left." Soon Pete had navigated to the local park. He organized the kids in a game of flashlight tag and went to get his bags from the trunk.
"Huh."
"You brought frozen hamburg to make burgers?"
"I guess so."
I peeked into the bag the hamburger had come from. "How were you planning to cook it?"
"What's wrong with this grill?"
"How were you going to light it?"
"I brought a lighter!" After a moment, he found it in the other bag.
"Is there a spatula in there too?"

Last night, one of our wild Florida summer storms knocked out our power. Our family was at it's typical eight o'clock routine: Lily was doing the dinner dishes, Owen and Joey were cleaning up the kitchen, and Jake and I were getting the four little ones bathed and ready for bed. Ari and Zanna were in their playpen in the kitchen for the moment, waiting their turns, while Jake and I played the usual divide-and-conquer game with Evie and Sam. I had just started running the water for Evie when the light flickered and then went out. Within a second there were shouts and screams and wails (from the twins). Lily came running into the bathroom I was in, Zanna on her hip. "Power's out!" she announced, rather unnecessarily.
Jake and I knew that no power meant that none of the kids would be asleep for a while. Even Ari and Zanne would be kept up by the excitement.

It was just another crazy family dinner in the VanRiemer house. It had been storming for a good hour, with not much lightning and thunder. But all of a sudden the wind picked up and the storm got worse. Not before too long, the lights went out. Leah and Naomi, both afraid of the dark, start to cry, which starts to make Christopher cry. Annalie and Evangeline help James to find flashlights and candles around the house while Cleste tries to get the young children to quiet down.

A big power outage happened tonight in the center of London. My husband, Eli James, myself, Imogen Lianne, and our seven children, Amelia Jane (15), Henry Wyatt (12), Charlotte Lindsey, Alice Wren and Ruby Piper (all 10), Everett Lawrence (5) and Genevieve "Evie" Miranda (4), decided to all go to the park and enjoy the lovely evening. Everett and Evie were a little scared when the lights went out, they'd never experienced a blackout before, but the opportunity to go the park at night was too good to be true for them. Even Amelia, who is a teenager, had a great time playing with the younger kids.

Last night Mike and I were getting the girls ready for bed when the power went out. Clara cried and wouldn't let go of Mike and even the usually fearless Clover was scared of the dark! We tried to calm them down by lighting candles, but they were still scared. So we got the idea to take them outside to play in the moonlight to show them that the darkness can be fun! I put Arlo in a sling and we ran around outside playing tag and hide-and-seek. The girls had a blast and Arlo seemed to enjoy being outside too. After that we decided to walk to the beach (we live in Georgia and it is only a couple blocks from our house). Clara searched the sand for seashells and Clover ran around in the water with Mike. I held Arlo's feet in the water and he had a lot of fun splashing around. The girls fell asleep in the stroller on the way back and by the time we got home the electricity was back on! It was a fun night and a good reminder that we need to be spontaneous and enjoy little moments!

Last night, just before dusk, the lights went out and we found ourselves in the mist of a power outage. A few seconds after we heard a scream. My husband, Lex (Jonathan Alexandre), hurriedly ran to find the source of the noise, and I followed behind, waddling as fast as I could with my large pregnant belly.
The source of the noise was our in daughters' room. They share because even though we live in a nicely sized town house (for Montreal), there's four bedrooms and seven of us. So the girls share, our two younger boys share, and Bas has his own room.
So back to my story. Once I waddled in to the room to see our younger daughter, Ette, hiding under her blanket. Their night light had gone out. Unfortunately for us, that meant that she wasn't going to go back to sleep.
By that time our middle boy, Elie, walked in. He was pretty annoyed by the fact that his sister had woken him up, but worried, too. He's very protective of his sisters, Anna because she's his twin, and Ette because she's just a "baby" (according to her siblings).
We tried to get them to go back to sleep, but even with us by her side, Ette refused to sleep. Finally we decided to take her downstairs, so maybe she'd fall asleep on the couch.
After a few moments of silence, Ette decided she just HAD to have her stuffed animal. When she came back downstairs, she was being followed by Ana, whom she had woken up. Ironically enough, Elie had also decided to go downstairs and the twins had bumped into each other in the hall. Well it was more of them tripping each other.
Elie was fine, but Ana's arm wasn't and I sent her to the emergency room with Lex. But again, luck had it that the garage didn't work. Elie ran next door and begged the neighbors, who had been asleep, to let us borrow their car. The neighbors, kindly old folk, agreed to drive Lex and the twins to the ER (Elie felt really really bad, and Ana wanted him to come along).
The house was quiet for about half an hour... until Mich came down. It didn't really surprise me, because Mich tends to wake up around midnight. Mich and Ette began playing, rather loudly, so I took them out back.

It was an interesting night! Hi, my name is Jennifer Marie and my husband is Adam Alexander. Tonight we lost power. With no electricity and four bored children we didn’t know what we were going to do. Our kids are 4 year old quadruplets. We have two girls and two boys, all of which are scared of the dark. We live in Russia, just in case you needed to know. Our children’s names are Anastasia Nicole, Adam Robert, David Samuel, and Natasha Rose. We ended up having a family talent show in the dark. Anastasia danced, Adam did magic tricks, David showed scooter tricks, and Natasha sang. It took their mind off of how dark it was and wore them out so we put them to bed and luckily the lights came back on before anyone woke up.
